League of Legends Announces Illaoi – Kraken Priestess

Riot Games has announced a new mage bruiser that will soon be joining the ranks of League of Legends, Illaoi the Kraken Priestess. Channeling the power of her god Nagakabouros, she wreaks havoc with a flurry of tentacles and soul crushing might that is sure to leave the top lane meta reeling.

League of Legends illaoi Splash

Passive: Prophet of an Elder God

Illaoi periodically spawns a tentacle on a nearby wall. Tentacles interact with Illaoi’s abilities and last until killed or left dormant a full minute.

Q: Tentacle Smash

Passive: Tentacles that hit enemy champions heal Illaoi for a small portion of her missing health.

Active: Illaoi summons a tentacle that slams down in a target direction, damaging all enemies struck.

W: Harsh lesson

Instead of attacking normally, Illaoi charges in for her next basic attack, dealing bonus physical damage before commanding all nearby tentacles to swing at her target.

E: Test of Spirit

Illaoi casts a spell that sends tendrils out in a target direction. If the tendrils connect with an enemy champion, they grasp the champion’s spirit and tear it back to Illaoi. When spirits are attacked by the Kraken Priestess or her allies, it transmits a portion of its suffering to their now spiritless champion. If Illaoi and her allies are able to destroy the spirit, or if the spiritless champion flees too far from their spirit, they suffer a heavy slow as they become a vessel, and start spawning tentacles around them that attack both their host and their allies. Test of Spirit allows tentacles to occasionally swing at spirits and vessels, dealing physical damage to all enemies hit.

R: Leap of Faith

Illaoi leaps into the air before slamming her idol into the ground, damaging all nearby enemies and summoning a tentacle for every enemy champion hit. Harsh Lesson’s cooldown is significantly reduced while Leap of Faith is active.

League of LEgends Illaoi Abilities

While Illaoi is a juggernaut at holding stationary objectives, her slow speed and need to set-up to maximize her full potential leave her a bit lackluster when on the move. Allies that can bolster her movement speed or pull enemies into her range work best with her, while enemies that can punish her at range will be a nightmare for her to deal with. See her full kit in action on her reveal page.

Smite Reveals Patch 2.18 and New Pantheon

Smite Reveals Patch 2.18 and New Pantheon news header

This afternoon, Smite‘s patch note stream revealed the notes for 2.18, “The Astral Hunt.”

This patch has no god balance changes, but does introduce a new god: Chiron, the Great Teacher. This will be the final god release of 2016 prior to next year’s reveal of the new pantheon. We also see the new map Clash getting its first chance to shine! This god’s abilities are:

Passive : Herbal Medicine

Every 12s Chiron collects herbs for a poultice, which increases all healing Chiron receives (+10%) for each poultice he carries. Each time he uses an ability, the lowest Health ally within 30 units is healed for (30 + 5 per god level over 5s).

  • Max Stacks : 3.

Training Excercise

Chiron warns his teammates to evade the area, removing Crowd Control effects so they can escape before it explodes, damaging and Crippling all enemies in the area. (70/125/180/235/290 + 80% of your Physical Power.) Cost: 55/60/65/70/75. Cooldown: 15s.

Masterful Shot

Chiron passively marks his enemies as targets when he damages them with Basic Attacks or his Ultimate ‘Centaurus’, reducing their Physical Protections by 3%. He may activate this ability to fire seeking arrows at all marked targets within range, damaging (55/100/145/190/235 + 70% of your Physical Power) and slowing them (23/27.5/30/32.5/35%) for 3 seconds. Cost: 65. Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10s.

Giddyup!

Chiron gallops forward, damaging enemies (70/95/120/145/160 +50% of your Physical Power), knockup up minions, and kicking enemy gods behind him. Chiron may fire Basic Attacks while charging. Cost: 70/75/80/85/90. Cooldown: 16s.

Ultimate: Centaurus

Chiron is transformed into a constellation, and can fire three long-distance shots (100/145/190/235/280 +90% of your Physical Power), even through walls. If Chiron would be killed during this ability, he does not die until he runs out of time or shots. Killing an enemy in this state returns Chiron to life with Health equal to the damage dealt instead. Cost: 80/90/100/110/120. Cooldown: 90s.

New skins include Sagittarius Chiron, Khepri Mastery, BASS Drop Janus, Furiona Bellona, Rock From Bisrakh & King of the Ring Ravana, Nutcromancer Ah Puch, and Child’s Play Scylla.

Full patch notes are available here.

There was one additional bonus reveal today: the new Shinto Pantheon! This new pantheon will begin its entry into Smite during 2016, introducing a host of Japanese deities to the game. More details will be revealed at the SPL Super Regionals.
