One of the most iconic consumer brands, Atari, is back and better thane ver, as the upcoming console, Atari VCS is now available for pre-sale exclusively at Indiegogo. Two models of the Atari VCS are available to be pre-ordered, including the Atari VCS Day One Collector’s Edition, which features a special retro-inspired real wood-front. The other is the Atari VCS Onyx, which features a glossy black face and searing “Atari Red” illuminated Fuji logo. The VCS Day One Collector’s Edition is 299 USD, and is exclusive to Indiegogo, only for a limited time. The Atari VCS also has a reimagined Classic Joystick and an all-new modern controller available for purchase in select packages, or as standalone purchases. Initial launch shipments are planned for mid-2019.

Retro-inspired, but not a “retro-box,” the Atari VCS is a modern device that offers a customizable entertainment experience for the home. As an homage to the past, every Atari VCS comes with the Atari Vault® collection of more than 100 all-time classic games, including arcade and home entertainment favorites like Asteroids®, Centipede®, Breakout®, Missile Command®, Gravitar® and Yars’ Revenge®. It will also feature a unique open platform, where users can access a Linux “sandbox” to add their own software and customize the system further, such as add more PC input devices (Bluetooth/USB game controllers, mouse, keyboard, webcam, et cetera).

Atari has partnered with leading technology companies to help develop Atari VCS, including AMD, who provides the Atari VCS custom processor with Radeon Graphics Technology, and video game peripherals maker Power A who is developing the Classic Joystick and Modern Controller. The Atari VCS platform will support 4K resolution, HDR and 60FPS content, onboard and expandable cloud storage options, dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as USB 3.0 support. Additional specifications are listed on the Atari VCS Indiegogo page and subject to change.

“We are happy with the progress we are making on Atari VCS and thrilled that fans finally have a chance to reserve the first ones,” said Michael Arzt, Atari COO of Connected Devices. “Atari VCS will give fans a lot of freedom to game, stream, connect and customize their experience like never before. The entire Atari team is working hard to deliver this unique platform and can’t wait for fans to get their hands on it. We’ll have exciting reveals and announcements between now and then so stay tuned!”

The Robot Rebellion Begins on July 10 with the Insane Robots Launch

Insane Robots

Playniac announced today that their unique card battler, Insane Robots will launch on July 10 for the Playstation 4, followed by Windows/Mac (via Steam) on July 12th, and Xbox One on July 13th. Pre-orders will also be available soon on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store for $15.99 (20% pre-order discount) for the base game and $23.09 for the Insane Robots Deluxe Pack (30% pre-order discount), which also includes a Season Pass with six DLCs. The game was initially created as a tabletop prototype with old business cards, and from there, the creators of Insane Robots pulled from both physical and digital design processes.

They have removed some of the more unpleasant parts about card games – expensive expansions, farming for cards, and the ever-rising bar for people that do not spend money on purchasing more cards. Insane Robots is not a CCG, it’s more like FTL meets a Battle Royale, only in a card game. It features online, local, and single player robotic skirmishes, where deploy Hacks and Glitches in the heat of battle and use your tactical genius to terminate the competition. There are over 46 diverse robots in five hostile environments, and you can also augment your droids to grow more powerful and trade insults at the same time.

Key Features Include:

  • This is card battling HACKED with no costly expansions and time-consuming customization
  • Compete in intense local and online ranked 2P multiplayer battles
  • Experience the epic 15+ hour single-player campaign, overthrow the megalomaniacal Kernel and save robotkind
  • Unlock 46 robots and find over 100 augments to boost their abilities
  • Explore your tactical options to survive randomly generated survival arenas
  • Master the 22-token battle deck and define your own style of play
  • A compelling narrative with over 150 branching story events
