Escape from Tarkov Reveals 0.9 Patch Details
Escape from Tarkov released the latest 0.9 Patch, and with it comes a wealth of interesting content. 50 new pieces of equipment come in this patch, flashbangs and smoke grenades, as well as armbands for Identification purposes. Nvidia Highlights are also available, and other fixes and details come in this update. The first of several Scav bosses came in 0.9, known as The Dealmaker. He runs a gang of four Scavs, and their idea is that boss Scavs will have a more complex and thoughtful AI compared to the other Scavs. If they’re weakened, they’ll rally other Scavs to help them, and have better combat equipment.
The Dealmaker’s gang arsenal features a variety of ranged and close-combat weapons, grenades, and all of the gang members use medical supplies when necessary. The appearance of the boss, clad in a leather jacket, is more aggressive and charismatic. The main qualities of the Dealmaker are distinct leadership skills and the ability to keep his posse in order, moving across the neighborhood in a group. The gang carries out reconnaissance on the orders of the boss, keeping other Scavs at distance. In firefights, they keep changing positions and reacting to enemy actions and operating accordingly. Meanwhile, Dealmaker himself prefers to avoid a fair fight, taking cover and attacking warily but accurately from the behind that cover
Nintendo Switch News – Week of 7/20/2018
by Jason Parker (Ragachak)
The Nintendo Switch continues to impress me personally and is just churning out great game after great game, and this week is no exception. I only have a few games that dropped this week that I’m aware of, but there are some really great ones coming out in the next few weeks. One of the big ones to me, is the finale of The Banner Saga trilogy, The Banner Saga 3! It comes out next week, July 24th, and you can expect a review on the PC version in the next week or so. It’s gritty, it’s intense, and if you’re a fan of turn-based strategy, even if you haven’t played the first two, you owe it to yourself to check it out. The Viking-themed world they’ve created is exceptional and really has a lot to offer. No matter what platform you use, I highly recommend giving it a glance (but this is a Nintendo column, so you should get it for the Switch).
A game I reviewed a few months back is coming to the Switch also: Crush Your Enemies! My review can be found here, and I thought it was an absolute hoot. You should use the review to get a feel for what it entails, but the Barbarian RTS comes to life on the Switch on August 2nd, 2018. It’s hilarious, crude, and will have local and online multiplayer in addition to the incredibly fun single-player campaign. The humor is definitely not for kids, the boss battles are incredibly weird (in a good way!), and it comes highly recommended from me. It’s nice to be able to talk about a game that’s coming out that I’ve actually played, and I was able to do it for both of these previews!
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion (July 17th): I haven’t really played many of the Adventure Time games; they just never clicked with me despite loving the actual cartoon. But the idea of an open-world Adventure Time adventure, where you explore The Land of Ooo that has been flooded, I absolutely love it. You recruit popular Adventure Time characters, explore and do battle, it’s really got it all. I also appreciate that it has the original Adventure Time voice cast to boot. It looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. (39.99)
Sonic Mania Plus (July 17th): I did enjoy playing what I did of Sonic Mania. I didn’t complete it, but I sure did play a lot of it. It has more than simply playing as Sonic – you can also pick Tails or Knuckles, and play through re-imagined classic zones, fight challenging bosses, and of course, deal with Dr. Eggman. Once and for all, maybe? Nah, he’s like Wily, he never goes away. It also has competition mode and co-op mode, and in every way, this is a love letter to the Sonic titles that most people in my generation adored as children (1, 2, 3, & Knuckles). It’s fast-paced, but this is really just a re-release/enhanced edition, instead of an update. If you already played Sonic Mania, you may not be wild about re-purchasing it. It’s still as fun as always though. (19.99)
