The Farm 51 Announces ‘World War 3’ Coming to Steam in 2018

The Farm 51 is proud to announce their new modern military FPS, entitled World War 3, releasing on Steam’s Early Access platform in 2018. The Warzone game mode will feature large-scale combined arms battles, with infantry, armored vehicles, and drones. The Recon mode will offer a fresh approach to the battle royale genre. With national armed forces, real locations, full body awareness, and a versatile customization system, it also features the authenticity of the modern combat experience with other essentials such as a robust ballistic system, life-like weapons and more. Produced in cooperation with military R&D centers and consultants, World War 3 shows the consequences of every battle in the context of a global war campaign on a strategic war map

KEY FEATURES

  • Warzone and Recon – a complete package: World War 3 presents a modern conflict with tactics, techniques and procedures inspired by true combat engagements. Warzone offers opportunities for dynamic, intense firefights in teamwork-focused battles of infantry and armored units over fortified points. The tactically-oriented Recon allows players to cooperate within small reconnaissance squads left on their own to survive and capture high-value targets in hostile territory. Together these modes create a coherent gameplay experience aimed at presenting the actual feel of modern warfare.
  • True combat experience: The most authentic bullet vs. armor system in the FPS genre to date, achieved through years of research and development with military professionals. Ballistics, a weight system, full body awareness, vehicle physics, and an extensive customization system all affect the gameplay in a meaningful way.
  • Strong teamplay: World War 3 supports team-based gameplay rewarding the initiative in playing as a part of a squad. Responsible cooperation within a squad is the best recipe for combat effectiveness. Players can choose between assuming the role of an Attacker or a Defender, and use any gear available to support their playstyle – what matters is the victory.
  • Strategic war map: To show the consequences of every battle, player performance is rewarded with resources used to conquer or defend a territory, gain additional bonuses via the metagame and turn the tide of war. Every destroyed vehicle, every kill, every bullet fired, every achievement affects the big picture presented on a constantly evolving, interactive war map eventually covering the entire planet.
  • National pride: World War 3 is heavily grounded in military realism, offering accurate depictions of weapons, uniforms and equipment of national armed forces inspiring players to make their war effort personal and prove their country is the dominant force on the battlefield. The maps are based on real-life locations such as the streets of Warsaw, Berlin and Moscow (more locations planned) recreated with an unprecedented attention to detail.
  • Versatile customization: Players are able to personalize every part of their equipment, choosing from hundreds of combinations of unique weapon parts, attachments, skins, camos and paints. The same applies to vehicles and tactical gear and uniforms. If it’s possible in real life, it’s possible in World War 3.
  • No strings attached: No paid loot boxes and pay-to-win approaches to game design. We consider it very important to stay true to the community and deliver the best game we can without resorting to such practices – as players ourselves we believe that the sense of pride and accomplishment should come with no paywall.

Mega Man 11 Charges Up With New Features

Capcom has confirmed today that in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Mega Man series, a new title in the franchise drops October 2nd, 2018 – Mega Man 11! Releasing on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC, Dr. Wily is back (again) and has had a true flash of evil genius. He’s investing in an idea from his time at Robot University, and Dr. Light, recalling this plan, upgrades Mega Man with the powerful prototype known as “Double Gear”, installing it right into his circuits. Here’s what we know about the Double Gear System:

  • Speed Gear – Introduces the ability to slow the flow of time, a useful tool for many situations such as navigating tricky platforming sections or avoiding fast-moving enemies or obstacles.
  • Power Gear – Allows players to charge the Mega Buster to a new level, and weapon-based abilities become even more robust.
  • Double Gear – When at critical health, Mega Man will gain access to a hidden ability to activate both gears simultaneously, unleashing maximum power and allowing for deft maneuvers in the direst situations.

In addition to this, the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 is out on the Switch, and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC this July 24th, 2018.

Animazement 2018 Thoughts with SoniCat Cosplay

Animazement 2018

SoniCat Cosplay as Android 18 and Bulma – Animazement 2018

I have very fond memories of Animazement, as a convention. Back when I first attended, Anime/Cosplay conventions like this were almost non-existent. It’s fascinating to see how far the convention culture has come since then. My first (and one of my only) cosplay experiences was there, as Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon. Animazement takes place during Memorial Day weekend, and I haven’t been able to attend in person for the last couple of years, because other things have demanded my attention. Thankfully, I have wonderful friends in the NC cosplay team of SoniCat Cosplay, who went in my stead and did a little write-up for us at OnRPG again with their thoughts on Animazement as a whole. A link to their Facebook page is above here, and you should absolutely check out their work. They also have a StoreEnvy, right here. We also have a gallery of photos below, taken by both SoniCat Cosplay and my friend Joe, who is a delightful person and even managed to find a Dan Hibiki cosplayer (you know, the best Street Fighter player).  Without further ado, SoniCat Cosplay:

The streets of Downtown Raleigh were bombarded once again this Memorial Day weekend by another successful Animazement! The event has become a large tradition among con-goers that it seems more like a fun family reunion. With all of its successes, however, this year seemed to have a few differences that we noticed. The most noticeable being the lack of attendees. Animazement has been known to have very large turnouts every year, and this year seemed to be lacking. Friday was very quiet, and Saturday–the busiest day of the weekend–seemed emptier than previous years. Many attendees also noticed the lack of high energy. It could have been the heat, the unpredictable rainy weather, or just the lack of people, but the overall consensus seemed less populated than previous years. This could also be because of a newer badge system that many cons seem to be considering. Charging one set amount for the entire weekend that decreases as the days progress. There is no longer a one-day pass option which many people like to go with considering not everyone can attend all weekend and most don’t really want to pay a lot of money if they think they will only be going a single day. Granted, most can wait until Sunday to pay the cheapest badge price but is it really worth the money when the Dealer’s Room closes at 3 pm and the con itself is over by 5 pm?

It could also be the fact that each year, Animazement seems to continue the same content it has every year. Panels, guests, concerts, it seems recycled if not just changed slightly to appear fresh and new. Not to mention some of the more interesting panels we wanted to attend all happened very early in the morning. This could be because of the choice of the panelists, or the lack of space, but missing tons of panels because we couldn’t get to the con early in the morning and looking at the schedule at night to find there weren’t very many options to sit in seemed very off-putting to us as many con-goers are very much “nightlife” types of people.

Overall, we definitely felt that the largest part of what makes Animazement so important to us are the friends. Seeing old friends, making a few new ones. We had a blast just getting to hang out with other people who also enjoy the nerdy things that we love. Whether it’s shopping in the Dealers’ Room and Artist Alley, sitting in Anime Hell, playing video games or dancing at the rave, cons are just better with friends and that’s what keeps us coming back every year!
