Galactic Civilizations III v 3.8 Ascension Update Goes Live

Galactic Civ III update 3.8

Stardock released a v3.8 update for its space strategy game Galactic Civilizations III today. This update, 3.8 will focus on the user experience with improved fonts, color use, event notifications, and screen design changes. A new UI also arrives for Ascensions, and each civilization’s progress is now easy to read in the form of a progress bar.

Anytime a player gains control of an Ascension crystal, an icon will alert everyone to it. Screens have been updated so that they use fonts, colors, and font sizes consistently. “Word on the Street” blurbs have been adjusted for a cleaner look, and clipping in drop-down screens has been eliminated. Gamedec Scheduled to Launch in 2020

Gamedec is an upcoming adaptive cyberpunk RPG title from Anshar Studios and is scheduled to debut in 2020. Set in the 22nd century, in Warsaw City, reality has become a bit of a relative concept. Life and death have many meanings, and new worlds give rise to new problems. Gamedecs are people in this society, who handle frauds, crimes and conspiracies in virtual worlds. Things like Child slavery in F2P games, the suicide of a professional player, things like this are handled by Gamedecs. A special version will be previewed at Gamescom, and a demo will be playable at PAX West.

In Gamedec, decisions are important, and the game world constantly adapts to them and to the hero, who changes as the story progresses. The consequences of choices made, like in “real” life, can be immediate, long-term, or hidden – the latter most often surfacing at unexpected moments. It’s up to the player to evaluate choices and decisions. Gamedec will utilize paper-based RPG mechanics to give players the freedom to approach problems from multiple perspectives, but the choice is theirs, rather than having a single solution.

Dear Esther to Head to iOS in 2019

The Chinese Room, Sumo Digital, Dan Pinchbeck, Ed Daly, Brighton

The Chinese Room, a Sumo Digital Studio revealed that their title Dear Esther will make its way onto iOS devices in 2019. Originally released in 2012, and onto console in 2016, Death Esther is a thought-provoking title and asks players to explore mysterious windswept coastlines, and shimmering caves of a dreamlike Hebridean Isle. The unnamed narrator utters fragments from a letter addressed “Dear Esther”, and through this, players must make sense of the cryptic narration, obscure scribbles on the walls, and machine parts strewn about the island. No two playthroughs are going to be the same, thanks to Randomized narration, and there will be more than one way to interpret this tale.

SEGA Ages to Add Space Harrier and Puyo Puyo Drop in August

SEGA Ages Space Harrier Puyo Puyo

SEGA announced a pair of true classics will be coming to the SEGA Ages collection on the Nintendo Switch, for 7.99 each on August 22nd, 2019. Space Harrier brings the classic arcade action back but also adds a new feature to make it just a little easier: Komainu Barrier Attack. The Komainu will shield players with a special barrier, so you can get through obstacles with greater ease. It can only absorb one hit though, so be careful! Puyo Puyo Drop is the first entry in the beloved series, and players can go against the computer, or a friend in the Arcade Mode, or go at it with players around the world. There will also be a Ranking System to see just how good you are. Nintendo Switch Online is required to use this feature though.
