Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing Dev Diary #1

Tribetoy released a developer diary today that goes over the combat and social mechanics of their upcoming airship combat/diplomacy game: Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing. This diary goes over commanding the crew of drones, resource management, and NPC negotiation. Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing is based on the idea of a reality show, where players make alliances with other captains, and then find the perfect time to do away with them.

Tribetoy’s staff offer some of their favorite playstyles, playable characters, and regale viewers with tales of their time with Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing – most of which end in betrayal! You can look forward to being your own devious scallywag of an airship captain when Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing flies onto Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 4 in April.

Versus Evil Maps Out 2019 With New Indie Signings and Indie Dev Fund

Versus Evil announced a quartet of upcoming new titles that are slated for the 2019 year, on top of bringing Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire to console, which is also very exciting. They also pointed out that Nintendo Switch fans will get a special treat when the original Pillars of Eternity comes to the Switch later this year. First up is Yaga, winner of the Nordic Game Discovery Contest. It tells the story of Ivan, a one-handed blacksmith who was cursed by bad luck. He must tackle impossible tasks from the tzar in this Action-RPG, inspired by Slavic folktales.

Gambrinous brings Cardpocalypse to life this year (the team that developed Guild of Dungeoneering). It follows 10-year old Jess as she starts at a new school where all the kids are collecting and playing the Mega Mutant Power Pets card game. Set in the 1990s, Cardpocalypse is a single-player card game where you change the cards and the rules as you play, delivered within a charming school-based narrative. Hitchhiker from Berlin-based indie developer Mad About Pandas is another beautifully realized title launching this winter. Described as thought-provoking, spooky, and compulsively entertaining, Hitchhiker propels the player through five different philosophical road trips in which they must piece together clues to solve a mystery.

Versus Evil has also taken on the publishing duties of the strategy card game Faeria, and will provide assistance to developer Abrakam in releasing/promoting the game to a wider set of online gaming stores, and also working on bringing the console version to life. Attendees at GDC will be able to see Faeria and Faeria’s new DLC at GDC 2019. Last but not least, zombie survival game Into The Dead 2 will be coming to Nintendo Switch. The Into the Dead franchise is finally making its long-awaited debut on the onsole after amassing more than 100 million downloads on mobile. This and so much more awaits Versus Evil fans in 2019.

On top of its new game announcements, Versus Evil is announcing a new indie game development fund as it looks towards 2020 in its publishing ventures. “2019 is a momentous year for Versus Evil. It’s a year of unprecedented growth for the company.  We have added new team members, new developers and a full slate of fun, unique, independently developed video games from creators located around the world,” said Steve Escalante, GM and Founder of Versus Evil.  “We’re also excited about our new independent video game fund which will allow us to continue to invest in more games for 2020, 2021 and beyond. If you are a developer that has an amazing game in the role-playing, strategy or action genres, we want to speak with you.  Let’s catch up at GDC and PAX East! I am so proud of what the Versus Evil team has built and look forward to the next award winning game!
