Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 – A Release Into the Grim Darkness

Focus Home Interactive and Tindalos Interactive are bringing Games Workshop to life as today is the launch of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2. The grimdark story takes things into space with epic battles and 12 factions clashing for dominance in both skirmish and ranked multiplayer battles. It also features three full grand campaigns, boasting hundreds of hours of single-player/co-op content. The 41st millennium is here and will have players considering the speed of their ships, engagement angles, torpedoes, and strike craft while also employing fantastic and daemonic special abilities in this grimdark setting. Over 80 sub-factions and dozens of fleet upgrades also await.

Also announced today are the plans for post-launch content for Armada 2. This will include the full release of co-op mode in March, alongside the quality of life updates and new ships in the short term. Further down the line, we plan to add an epic skirmish and unranked multiplayer mode that allows for massive-scale battles with no fleet point limit, using some of the largest ships to ever grace or terrorize the galaxy. Thanks to the incredible support for the game already received from the community, Focus Home Interactive and Tindalos have also begun development on a fourth grand campaign. More on that soon.

Amplitude’s Annual ‘Endless Day’ Has Arrived

The Endless Day is a tradition going back to the beginning of Amplitude Studios itself. Each mid-January they celebrate the founding of the studio, and each year they get a little better. This year they’re hoping to outdo previous years: The Amplitude collection-wide free weekend, two new major expansions, and a ton of unlockable community content. If that weren’t enough, Endless Space 1 is free for life for anyone on Steam who connects to their co-creation platform, Games2Gether.

Free Weekend Community Challenge: Explore Games, Unlock Content:

Put those wallets away. From January 24th – 28th, all Amplitude games are free to play. Already a fan? You own all the games? Well first things first, hi, let’s be friends. Secondly, now is the time to convince those other friends that the Endless Universe is worth a test drive.

EXPLORE THE GALAXY…
We made a fancy free-weekend website. We think you should check it out. In it, we ask you to take on the role of an Endless Space 2 recon ship. We’re tracking how many systems our collective Endless Space 2 players explore during the full 72 hours of the free weekend.

… AND EXPAND THE GAME.
For each “number of systems explored” milestone, new rewards are unlocked. The unlocked rewards will available to everyone for free in a future patch. More info can be found here on their free weekend website.

Two Major New Expansions Arrive:

ENDLESS SPACE 2 – PENUMBRA
The long awaited, community-designed espionage faction is making its publicly playable debut, alongside supercool features like hacking and invisibility modules for your ship. For those you wanna-be (or real!) spies and hackers, now is your time to shine! Well, provided you’re ready to shine cloaked, in the shadows.

Endless Space 2 – Penumbra is available for $12.99 / €12.99 / £10.99 + 10% off HERE

ENDLESS LEGEND – SYMBIOSIS
Our Argentinian partners NGD Studios are back at it again in this ultra-slick collaboration that brings new forms of life to the fading planet of Auriga. Symbiosis introduces the Mykara, a spore-like and infectiously fun-to-play, aggressive faction. It also introduces gigantic beasts known as the Urkans, free for any faction to fight or tame and use to their benefit.

Endless Legend Symbiosis is available for $12.99 / €12.99 / £10.99 + 10% off HERE.

Total War: Three Kingdoms 2019 Developer Interview

Jason flew out to San Francisco to have a chat with some of the developers behind Total War: Three Kingdoms about the game and get some hands-on experience with the game. Here’s a list of the questions, if there’s a specific topic you want to jump to.

“Three Kingdoms has a ton of noteworthy and important characters. Was it hard to create stats and classes for so many of them without duplicates?” – 0:15

“The Three Kingdoms Era is a much different era than others Total War fans have seen. What new major mechanics can they look forward to?” – 3:45

“Coalitions are a large part of the Three Kingdoms era. If a player becomes too powerful, will they need to worry about NPCs forming coalitions against them?” – 6:25

“What sort of benefits will forging social connections with your various generals provide?” – 8:08

“Total War: Three Kingdoms starts just after the Yellow Turban rebellion, which is a bit of a departure from other games in this setting. What inspired this choice? Will it still be referenced in the game?” – 10:36

“Are there currently any plans for DLC or other content updates? If so, can you talk about them today?” – 13:54

Jon Shafer’s At the Gates Released

At The Gates Header

At the Gates, a blend of 4X strategy and roguelike elements designed by Jon Shafer (Civilization V), is now available on Steam, the Humble Store, and the game’s website.

The game features a map that changes based on seasons and weather, limited resources, and clan personalities that add new depths of strategy to the genre. At the Gates also boasts a “tooltips-in-tooltips” system to make it easier to learn the game and access key information.

In a press release, Shafer commented:

“I’ve always been driven to innovate with my games and At the Gates is no exception. The genre has gotten a bit stale but it still has enormous potential, and that’s what I’m aiming to tap into by mixing roguelike elements into the classic 4X grand strategy formula.”
