I don't know if I'd call it essential, but the fall out from Utopia is sort of carrying on in Uncanny X-Men, but I would say you can just synopsis that stuff to save time. There's a seven part story going on there now, called Nation X. It's pretty self-contained though. If it ties to Dark Reign again, I'll let you know. If you find all that to be great and want all the other little bits, I'll give you a list of everything else it's tied into, but those are like Elektra's five-parter, The Hood's five parter, some Punisher, some War Machine issues. Good, but not essential. I'm not sure if everything I listed is in chronological order, but you'll pick it up as you go along. Start with Secret Invasion: Dark Reign though.
