I'm not very far in, but I got The Complete Bone from the library and I think you'd love it.

It's like the humor of Sam & Fuzzy (indeed, where I found out about it) combined with the epic dark fantasy of Lord of the Rings, and it's great. Very charming, and delightful, and I have a hard time putting it down.

It's better than Sandman, at least.
