Yay for steriotypical "PS3 OR 360?! DECIDE FOR ME!"
Oh dear, this will unleash a mass argument that will destroy the entire world. But in my opinion Xbox 360 is great if your into action, adventure, shooter type games.. also there are a few RTS games for 360. PS3 is a good console I'll agree on that. But 360 has more games, and from what I've seen better Exclusives.
If you can afford paying more for online, 360.
Do you enjoy online gaming?
Do you like arcade games?
What games coming out this fall are you excited for?
Do you have an HDTV?
Do you plan on watching blu-rays?
Do you have any intrest in Home or Avatars?
Would you like to win actual prizes by playing games?
Do you use netfilx?
Do you use things like xfire and steam?
OMFG GET THE PS3 BECAUSE IT HAAS TEH BLURAYS AND EVERYTHING IS THE SUXORS ON THE 360.
No but really they are mostly the same just games and bluray seperate them just look at videos of the exclusives witch I think the PS3 has more of now but I don't care because I only care about FFXIII and the rest of the rpgs so I am glad I have a 360. The PS3 is also more open ended you can run OS's on it and upgrade your hard drvie. You just need to look into it yourself.
Maybe if you told us what you were looking for in a system we could help you out a bit better.
well i dont have hd tv so i wont be useing the blue ray..
il be using my pc moniter and speakers.
well i like playing online fps and asian rpg mainly :p
the 360 is better for fps but im not sure which is better for asian rpg :p
as the 360 has quite a few titles lined up that i want...and so does the ps3.
but the 360 has star ocean as a 360 exclusive and i want that :p but the ps3 will have disgea 3..ahh so many decisons
360 has a few good RPGs. I don't really know they aren't my interest but games like Too Human and Mass Effect are amazing RPGs. The graphically difference between PS3 and 360 is only visible on an HD TV. They both have highs and lows, but 360 is amazing if you can afford Xbox Live.
360 for games/online play
ps3 for entertainment and some games
almost no graphical difference
the best 360 deal is $300
best ps3 deal is $400 i think
Xbox 360 has - Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Star Ocean 4, Infinite Undiscovery, Final Fantasy XIII, Cry On, Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, and more for JRPGS
They also have a good amount of WRPGS - Fable 2, The Elder scrolls IV: Oblivion, Mass effect trilogy, etc.
I don't think the PS3 has that many RPGS, not to mention all the other great titles the 360 has.
You also said you like You like online FPS, another great reason why you should get your hands on a 360.
I say ps3. By then end of 2008, you're going to know why. But, if you want alot of good games now, get 360. If you want some good games and way more soon, ps3. 360 has more rpgs but as of now they are mediocre. Imo, I think you might regret getting a 360.
the ps3 has upcoming
Socom Confrontation
LittleBigPlanet
Resistance 2
Killzone 2
God of War 3
M.A.G (256 players online)
inFamous
DC Universe online
Grand Turismo 5 (Don;t know when)
360 has upcoming
Gears of War 2
Fable 2
Star Ocean 4
that Halo strategy game.
if there's more sorry, please post more upcoming titles.
@xente: so ps3 is only worth it if you will use the blueray player?
@ruhans: yeah they are all great titles. ps3 seems to be lacking this gen :p i might go with a 360 in the end. is the 360 elite worth it?
@rich:why
lol thats the only reason we bought a PS3 was for blu-ray. at the time when we got our PS3 ( 2 months after launch ) blu-ray prices were still close to $1000
xbox 360 without any hesitations
oh if u wanna hook it up to a monitor? 360, cus fps and stuff look great on my friend's monitor even though it was only a 19 inch with no HD so yeah get teh 360 u won't regret it...unless you don't get a Xbox live account, in which u will definitely regret
Well, lets look at the 360's Asian RPG's
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XI
Star Ocean 4
Infinite Undiscovery
Trusty Bell
Enchant Arms
Tales of Vesperia
Spectral Force 3
Phantasy Star Universe
Culdcept Saga
Lost Odyssey(If you love older FF titles you'll enjoy this)
Blue Dragon(same as above)
The Last Remnant(timed exclusive)
And these are just so far. If the 360 continues to outsell(on a monthly basis) the PS3 in Japan, you can expect alot more RPGs for the 360.
Xbox360 = Fable 2 = thread.
I'd get a ps3 just for Metal Gear Solid 4. :-/

Well when you break it down like that, it seems like you're paying virtually nothing!
However, if you break it down as follows: The PS2 console lasted 7 years before the PS3. Over a span of $free a year, after 7 years, the ps3 will still cost us a total of $free. While the 360, over the span of 7 years will cost you a total of $350. Now it seems like 360 users are paying a shit load of money.
Moral of the Story: Don't skew numbers for the sake of the 'better console'.
I own both, the PS3 has better graphics, Is a cheap Blur-Ray player, can run Linux(Which is the best OS), has Ratchet and Clank, has Six Axis, has Sony's win controller.
Xbox360 has lesser graphics, HDDVD is dead, can't run Linux, has Fable 3, doesn't have Six Axis, has Microsoft's ugly non-win controller.
Can't tell that I am biased. :P

At the end of the day the 360 currently is the best console for one sole reason... the gaming library. Now I love the playstation and I was hoping that the playstation was going to get better but it is showing no real signs of that. Look at Haze for example. That game was hyped just like Killzone and some predicted it to save the PS3, but the game sucked balls and no one ever talks about it anymore. You can't tell how fun a game is going to be by looking at video clips and trailers.
The 360 has plenty of games that fill each genre at the moment. It is literally turning into the PS2 of this generation. It is a solid console and I even ended up getting on myself. I havn't started paying for Live yet because I don't play any multiplayer games yet, but Too Human will probably change that.
Overall I would recommend the 360 at the moment. Any one else who says otherwise is just trying to cling to the hope that the PS3 will hopefully become better in the future, but there is no guarantee. Don't buy a console cause it can use an OS or can play media... buy it for what it was intended for... games.
here's my opinion as someone who owns both consoles.
back in the psx vs n64, and the ps2 vs gc vs xbox gens, i could only stand sony consoles, due to the titles, since im a huge jrpg fan in general.
now in the current gen, this has shifted quite a bit. i've pretty much lost all hope in sony, exclusive wise, as an rpg gamer, they only thing they still have that i cant play on my 360 is FF13 versus, and that aint comming out for a hugee ****ing long time.
The 360 is currently the dominating console as far as it comes to jrpgs.
People will point at reviews and say some of them are mediocre, but, this is the usual ratings jrpgs get from mainstreem media.
Lost oddysey, spectral force 3, eternal sonata, opperation darkness, all great jrpg's currently available.
and comming out this year, tales of vesperia (2 weeks, first 360 game to completly sell out in japan i believe.) last remnant, infinite undiscovery(comming out early next month) and then later on the 2 behemoths, FF13 and star ocean 4.
Online wise, 360 has a small fee, but its worth it, far better support. i cant stand psn.
Not to mention the shooters, Gears of War 2 comming out this year. online thi shit is beast.
oh, and Fable 2 = instant win.
In the end, this is comming from a long time sony fan, my ps3 has been eating dust for months, only been used to play folklore and some MSG4. its main use for me is a blueray player.
Its not worth getting a ps3 at the moment, maybe in a year if the game library isint complete ass, take a look into it then. For now, 360 is a safe bet.
You do not use it the same way you would use the Wiimote it is more used too control specific aspects in Lair you use it too fly your dragon in Ratchet And Tools Future: Tools of Destruction it used to fly the glider and your ship on certain levels, it is also an option too dodge in Genji: Days of the Blade.
Okay, this is my final argument.
Down to the basics, the 360 is slightly better.
It has a larger amount of games exclusive for it and many many good games.
It has an online marketplace that is easy and efficient to use.
Its online gaming is hard to top.
And finally... its just cheaper...
If you want a console for the game library, consider getting the Xbox 360. Sony lost most of it's exlusives anyway(including Final Fantasy and GTA).
