I got 4 Gigs and I run fine. Just update frequently and Vista is actually pretty good. The only problem is it can't run older games. ( Like KOTOR) That's the only problem though, I can run most games fine. 99% of the games coming out nowadays are compatible for vista. Just turn off UAC, that annoying vista feature. Yeah, the feature that asks you "OMFG R U SHURE?" every time you try and do something on your computer.

I think i'll pass then, this box only running on 1gb ram. O_o

I'm using 512 RAM with Vista and my comp goes 100% CPU with only explorer.exe open, yay! :D

I'm guessing without all the visual crap and unneeded extras it wouldn't need so much ram?
I might give it a go tonight.

It's like this.
There are two reasons that vista sucks.
The first reason, a shit ton of bugs and such.
The second reason, is "features" that are there by design.
Most bugs have been fixed.
The "features", are not.
For example, one of those features that I just came across today at work.
On XP, you can boot off of the disk and do an over-install(or repair install, what ever you want to call it), for when your system is just broken, but you don't want to start fresh.
Vista also allows you to over-install. BUT, you can only do a Vista over-install IF you first boot into the OS.
So, if your Vista is no longer bootable, you can not do a repair install. You instead need to do a clean install.
And there is this one bug that all Vista systems have, and there is currently no fix for.
This is a rare thing, but can happen to any vista system.
Theres a bug where it damages the NTFS partition table.
What this means to you non-techs is that, Vista can destroy all the data on your drive. You can simply reinstall, yea, but any data that you had on that drive is gone.
And then theres the whole thing with the new OS coming out in a year...
Not worth it.
