I bet you wont play it long^^
Even 4 years ago when I tried it, I couldnt get along the crappy interface/controls, endless hardcore grind... etc etc.
But I know what it is... almost considered DLing it too recently. But as I know the result in advance (uninstalling it 1 hour after), I wont^^
Lol I got to level 21 it wasn't TOO grindy at that time :) But the reason I stayed in the game, only during the Living Legacy event :P, was because of RP. RP in EQ2 is awesome.
By the way, did WoW copy EQ2 or EQ2 copy WoW? Both games feel SO similar
i use 2 play eq1 but kinda took my leave after living legacy event thing, i dont see it as a grind if u kno wat your doing, once the SoF expansion came out it was pretty easy to level actually, when i came back for the living legacy during those 2 months i was able to get a cleric from lvl 1 to 75 and a magician from lvl 1 to 66, with alteast 120aa's in each toon, so to be honest i dun think its much of a grind, but as of eq2 i believe the game is mostly based around tradeskills, but i could be wrong, never played it myself
I would but the game said the account wasn't validated or something like that. Even though in the station launcher it said 14 days remaining for the trial.
i own the Titanium set, but i lack money so i'm sticking to pservers.
WoW copied alot alot from EQ1 and a bit from DaoC too, but making everything smoother, more accessible, and much more intuitive. It was designed for newbies, casual, as well as more experienced and hardcore gamers.
EQ2 came at the same time, but with this old slogan "Pain is good", aka the more you suffer and grind for your levels and stuff, the more you gonna enjoy them and stick to the game. If everything is too smooth and easy, players wont stay on the game. So things should be made hard in a MMO, and players have to struggle to achieve something. However EQ2 production technically speaking was flawed compared to WoW one, it required uber pc config for a very average result, while WoW was running smoothly on most pcs. The gameplay was not as fluid... etc
The result was that as WoW got millions of subscribers very fast, EQ2 didnt even manage to get as many subscribers than they still had on their old archaic EQ1 : alot of old EQ1 players preferred to stay on the first version of the game, or even move to WoW. It was an obvious failure if you compared that to their high ambitions.
One year after or so, they made a 180° turnback on EQ2, contradicting everything they said about "pain is good" before and started to make everything easier in their game : soloing possible for most classes, while before it was impossible, leveling faster, getting your definitive class at level 1instead level 20-40+ before... etc. To many people it looks like they learnt from WoW success and tried to make their game easier to attract more customers.
That's the story as far as I know it ;)
