So bahamut then?
and Does anybody have a buddy key?
Hmmm. i think im changing my mind about FFXI.. i watched a video gameplay. and its kinda slow paced. or is it really that good?
It's slow paced, but, I quite enjoy. I find it to be more tactical that fast-paced games.
No, I don't have a buddy key.
We'll i would watch the gametrailers Final Fantasy Retrospective part VIII
Its all about FFXI,
And i should buy the 2008 edition.. if youre interested.
and IMO, its not slow.. but.. some ppl think it is so.
compared to battles from other games where u just hit something then run off to the next kill it is a bit slow for battles because its more tactical battles per say, like u just can't go around killing everything while spamming potions and stuff like that that's in mostly every other game its more party based like having a healer, tanker, damage dealers only a few jobs benefit from going solo like red mage solo is situational and used only for boss monsters like god's and things that drop good items but while beastmaster solo's faster experience than a party does and blue mage is right behind it but for the most part your going to be looking for a party to kill stuff for leveling.
as for another question its not quest based with crappy things like kill 50 of these and get xx amount of xp. the quests are more for getting new jobs or new services like chocobo riding and raising. some quests will reward you with rare items like scrolls or armor peices that can't be obtained any other way except buying them for a lot of money and others open new areas like the past.
the 2 best things in ffxi imo are the missions you do for the mass amounts of storyline the game has and doing endgame stuff like killing god's and doing dynamis where its a big battle
if you hate the generic crap that most games have nowadays then you'll love ffxi.
Like Hyarume said, the retrospective is a video you really have to see if you are even slightly interested in the game.
So if you have not seen it, or are even mildly interested in the game please take 15minutes of your time and watch this video:

And if you wanna see tons of screenshots of the game click the link under my sig to see my screenshot diary.
Here is my warning about ffxi.
Its a good game in general, good graphics, good story, good party finding system. But the problems (especialy on Midgardsormr) are the lack of active players, (we were one of the lowest population servers) and the rmt (real money trade) which adds an insane level of inflation to the game, which only as i was starting to leave (about 1 year ago) were the admins doing anything about. I made it to level 72 hume paladin. And if you play in a populated server, finding a party wont be too difficult, but i LOATHED seeking a party.
i would go afk for HOURS until i got an invite, and when i got sick of that and tried to make my own party, there was rarely anyone seeking.
If you wanna do things solo, (such as some quests, leveling, etc) forget about it. because after level 12, soloing is not a viable option for anything except in rare cases where your a dragoon with pimped out gear, or a really good samurai (altho i think by now samurai have been nerfed so maybe they cant solo anymore)
This game is DEFINATELY for people who like partys, but if your not willing to wait a couple hours for one, dont bother with the game.
Since the level sync update, I've not had to wait for parties at all.
In the past however, it could be exactly how you describe, which was needless to say very boring.
