Major HELP!!!......gfx card

Okay.... i've decided (again) to get a new graphic card ,last time i chickened out.. but i really need a good graphic card to improve my gaming so yea.

I'm going to frys electronic and ask one of the guys at the computer section on whice graphic card i should get based on my pc spec.

So can you please tell me where I can find out about my pc spec....the one that are relevant regarding requirerments about graphic card.

and a question

pixel shader and stuff like that is in a graphic card right? not pc or anything.
