the guest pass has alot less restrictions than the trial does if i remember correctly.
You can whisper people or trade or even invite people to group on the free trial unless they are somebody you know (they have to add u to their friends list before you can whisper/invite).
Also the free trial stops you at level 20. I am pretty sure the guest pass has less restrictions.
