No, thats why I was asking TBH.

If you like to work, and feel that is good for you, take GED. I know people might think GED isn't as good as high school, but its better than quitting school all together. Especially if you don't do too good in school anyway. Sure you won't be able to get into an Ivy League school, but heres what you CAN do:

1. Take your GED class, pass WAY early, enjoy life.
2. When you are READY, go apply at a 2 year University ("Community College")
3. Take courses there in a specific area, and finish up your 2 years.
4. When you are all through with that, move to a 4 year (2 already done!) or just go get a job!


To be honest, I really wish I had gotten my GED, because I just go to a community college anyway! People with GED's get in to my college just as often as people with high school diplomas, so its a damn shame that I wasted 4 years of my life (almost 5) in high school when I could have cut it down to 1 year of GED!


Edit: I asked what year because if it was your JR or SR year, I would have suggested you just stay in school. But since its your first, **** it man. Get the GED :)

I don't have GED over here... My country mainly follows the education system of UK...

Theres not really much you can do but drop the job.
If your parents can afford it, then work less.
Schools definetly more important then a job in the long run.

my dad's company was affected by the current economic crisis, to what extent he didn't tell. his is a metal company, dealing with metal stuff like copper etc, and prices dropped to ridiculous prices recently.

I have to find a source of income myself, at 22 i think its time to at least lighten the burden on my parents. But I kinda struggling handling a full time job and night classes.

I have the will, but really not the mentality etc. I guess I'm not mature enough, but I do want my share of daily entertainment for at least an hour or so. sigh,

Don't settle for some "ill figure it out on the way course".

Try to sustain your highest goal, don't give them up, before it's clear you can't reach them.
If it is, don't hesitate, but if you just have a general feeling about it, don't throw away an opportunity, before you know.
There is still the option, that you might feel under-challenged after going for some easier route, which might be worse, than actually trying, but failing.

How long are you in the routine of having a full time job?
Give yourself the time to settle in, if it's something you still need to figure out completely.

A few months now into mixing both.

I was thinking of changing this early since I'm sure I wldnt be able to cope in the long run. Not that I am not giving myself time to settle in, I know myself best and somehow I don't see a bright future. I like to get rid of the root problem first before proceeding.

Having a part time job seems like a good option, the only thing holding me back is whether I should really give up the full time job.

I might be contradicting in some parts, but I am kinda confused right no too lol. Sorry~

Well, whenever there is doubt, there is no doubt.

It's not a good option to run with, if you are not seeing a possible way for it to work out.
You need to see it work; just be as realistic as you can;
Look back on this month and estimate if you reached your goals, or not.
If you reached them and performed good enough, chance are you are just having a hanger.

If you see it as some sort of a development, be careful were it will lead to.

I know the feeling of those situations were you just want to get a structured view of things, something that give you space to breath.

Space to breath can be a waste of time; once you have it you don't know why you wanted it.

Don't make worrying part of your routine.
One approach at the moment would be to redecorate your place, move some furniture around, do a big clean up and sort out old stuff that you might not need anymore; I am not joking.
Change your viewpoint on the problem; get it sorted out, or carry on.
Do not let it take over parts of your live were worrying and thinking has no place, don't sit there and think the same things over and over, they won't just change.

If you can't figure it out, take the time to talk it through with someone;
Posting is ok, in person might be better.
Just vent it off.

Then take a place and ask yourself, if you are ready;
If you are make a decision on the point, if you are not, sleep over it and ask yourself again; not if you have thought about it enough, not about details, just if you are ready to make the decision.

Just one way of viewing it, not perfect, but an option.
Do not make worrying a part of your routine and at the same time end up never making a decision.

Your situation has loads of potentials for you, you are young, education will always help you opening new opportunities, you can also try to settle down and find a job that suits you;
There isn't to much to do wrong anyways.

I would say, don't worry too much about your education.

I am sure there are some government assistance scheme out there to aid you, I don't think Singapore is that bad to deprive anyone of opportunities to study. Also, your parents should be paying for your university free through CPF or something? There should be ample funds, so don't worry?

Concentrate on your studies and get a good degree. There's no point being able to juggle both work and studies when the end result is a piece of normal degree that wouldn't land you in good salaries, you get the idea?

Think of the long-term:

Study hard => good degree => good salaries/job => repay your parents.

In the end, it really isn't worth the time trying to multi-task like this, and I haven't known of anyone with those capabilities.. unless they even sacrifice the precious leisure times, I don't see them being able to have good END results.

It's always the end that counts.

I'm just kinda jealous of my peers too...

my family ain't that poor, just average, but i have a sense of responsibility to help out in times like this. Plus I still have my lil bro who's also studying.

my parents are pretty stubborn, especially my mum. she insisted that since i am studying only night classes, i have to work in the day.

well, i wasnt the one who wanted to have night classes, i wanted a normal full time 3year university life. But what my mum said was true, we are just an average family, got to help out if i can,

I will be mulling over some part time jobs i can find, hope it works out. i pretty much prefer a less hectic lifestyle, not one where i got to spend 16hours outisde on weekdays.

Well, if you're bend(or being forced) on getting a job, I seriously hope you'll only be working on part-time.

Before that happens, try finding time to talk to your parents(mom) because, working in the day is going to tire you out.. and attending night classes will totally drain your life away. Worse of all, you may not have the stamina to endure lectures, or even absorbing what's going on in classes.

I have tried the other way round - study during day, work at night. It's a freaking energy drainer, it's bullshit and I hate that lifestyle. I suggest concentrate on only one task when it comes to time like this, really.

You can very easily get loans and scholorships and tons of other help out there, people understand that you wont be able to do it alone, and i am pretty sure you parents would rather see you graduate than make a bit more money at a bad lower paying job.

School > Work always.

Get into a co-op program if you can.

I've been through this kind of work+study life. It's horrible. Choose whatever path that you think you won't ever regret.

They don't really understand university/college life, stating that since I have so much time, why not get a job instead of lazing around at home etc. In their traditional and uncutured mindsets, they think that studying there means you got to be in sch or rushing homework for half the day.

When i first started, my mum got damn pissed since i was at home most of the time other than school. honestly, im just trying to save more $ from expenses incurred when going out. i can easily go out and see movies, buy stuff etc, but i guess my parents wldnt know this side of me.

just apllied for a few part-time jobs, hope someone calls me by tomorrow.
