Aion Open Beta is not Open

Just in case anyone was wondering, the Aion Open Beta is more like a... Closed Open Beta. Or something.

So, you still need a beta key to participate.
(get a key through preordering, or giveaways I guess)

So, people who were wanting to try it before they buy it will have to wait for the free trial, or get a key somehow.

Problem with waiting for the official release/free trial is, preordering gets you some pretty awesome wings at level 30.
(Well that interests me, anyway)

I actually bought a beta key for 3 bucks online before I decided to preorder so I could try - there's a quite a few sites that sell them listed on AionSource.

Just posting this info because it seems like a lot of people were planning to test it during OB without a key~

Champions online needed a key for ob too, so why are they whining they need a key for it anyways?

It's not like it hasn't been done before.

Meh, it's 10 bucks more.

If you do the digital purchase, it's never 'sold out', you just don't get a physical copy.
Which would end up in my closet anyway... I only keep the boxes for console games.

And true, Champions required keys also, but... they were much less difficult to acquire.

I haven't heard of too many people getting Aion keys without preordering. Maybe they'll release more through giveaways and such, now that it's Open Beta? No idea.

Any giveaways?

Champions Online didn't require you to pay to get into the beta, though. It defeats the meaning behind the term "Open Beta", meaning a test open to anyone who wishes to participate. Not a test you can only get into by paying for the game first. That's a Pre-Order Beta. Big difference.

shouldve preordered the game gotten your key then cancelled the preorder..that way it wouldve been free in the end

but yea on topic im still debating whether i should bother with this game..ppl say its interesting but it seems like any other generic mmo to me

There are going to be giveaways, like there has been for almost all of the beta's so far.

Trials are for seeing if you like the game, beta's are for testing the game.

For anyone who is panicking...please just stop. Its not like its anything worth panicking over. If you wait, when the time comes around for the OB to start, there will be keys given, if anything they may also give keys to current pre-order holders. The OB is next week, don't get all riled up when there is no real affirmation on what is to happen. If you're that impatient, get a pre-order, if that looks like a bad idea to you, then just...wait.

got mine CE from ncsoft already, im all set for the ob.
