Hm, the 4870 and GTX 260 are good choices for 1680x1050 :). I wouldn't spend much more than that for your resolution, unless more demanding games are released.

This is you can wait. The 5870 looks promising. Note that September 10th is not the launch of the HD 5800 series. So you could be waiting awhile :p
