HoN in almost every aspect, tho LoL is free :p
HoN: Good.
LoL: Laugh Out Loud.
That pretty sums it up.
HoN Vs LoL
---------------------
HoN = every game infested with Rage quitter crying babies that berate and belittle you if you are not perfect community.
LoL = Random very rare rage quitting *****y cry babies. Normally fairly nice community'
----------------------
HoN = Looks like warcraft 3
LoL = Fairly pleasant
----------------------
HoN = Items are not listed by type but generally place with no explanation of what they do
LoL = Items listed by type/category and each hero has a list of "suggested" use items
----------------------
HoN = On death you lose much gold and time setting you way back.
LoL = On Death you lose no gold and a little time.
----------------------
HoN = Hero's are plentiful but only one hero can be used in a game
LoL = Each hero seems different but a smaller selection plus a hero can be used two times, One on your side and one on the enemy side.
Garick what do you base your answers on?
HoN's items lists fairly well what they do, and it's organized like dota. I've seen LoL's graphics... it's eehh...
Losing gold on death is an incentive to not die, but kill other players.
HoN has options to use the same hero per game twice, I've been in a AR duplicate game that has 2 of the same heroes before. Though granted, normally nobody would bloody choose this.
Lol, his comparisons are garbage.
LoL will have a cash shop and skins that you need to buy with real money.
HoN is excellent if you are willing to put up with some "criticism" from fellow community members.
cuz u say so?
you can purchase new skins so your champions don't look like the original ones, thats actually a good thing, nothing gamebreaking about that and you get to look different.
everyone has their own opinion and imho hon is garbage and straight up dota clone at least lol wants to be a bit different:)
i haven't play lol yet ( still waiting for a key ) so i can only give my opinions on HoN.
i don't like it.
the map is abit too dark, making it hard for me to see the terrain clearly.
the skills can be too flashy at times, making it hard to see what the hell is going on in the middle of a team battle.
this is just my own opinions.. i'd stick with dota.. HoN isn't worth $30 for me..
Worst set of comparisons ever. I left out the stuff about the rage quitting communty, LoL may very well have less rage quitters. Most of your other statements about HoN are either false, or you just dont understand the functionality of it. I mean, if you have trouble comprehending the detailed tooltips that explain item functions, the reason behind losing gold on death, or why 2 of the same heroes in a game is a bad thing...well, then you can't expect ppl to take your opinions seriously. You make LoL sound like dumbed down carebear game.
I played both games, I did like HoN until the recent major updates to LoL. Now I find HoN a horrible community with a steep learning curve where I spend more time arguing with my team about my playing than actually playing.
Garick, your statement is false. If you have PSR rating of 1300 and play against a person with 1800, he will NOT gain any PSR rating of he wins.
In my case I've only tried HoN so far and I like it. I have never played DoTA before either, but I think its quite easy to get into. As for the community I agree on what you guys have been saying, it can get abit redicilous at times.
I want to try LoL tho, seems like an OK game. I can see myself playing both.
garic ur right, i agree with ur opinion
these peeps are just to hardcore hon fanboys
I like both but I prefer LoL a bit more.
HoN looks just like dota so far, some new heroes and small changes. The things I like are the interface, built-in voip, good friends system and awesome reconnect. The crappy community, constant stacks and being almost a copy of dota are it's downsides. I played a lot before they wiped the stats clean and put in PSR which imo just makes everyone a whiny ***** "bo hoo 51-49 we gonna looose!!1!". I haven't seen many ragequitters but trashtalkers are pretty common, after a while they get boring.
LoL on the other hand looks and play like a completely different game compared to dota. I liked the champions most of all, every champion is unique. I like the graphics more since I'm a sucker for everything cartoony. What I don't like is the current rune system, quite "stiff" lobby and a buggy reconnect feature. Towers go down extremely fast. I also fear that the game will be grindy, but if the game is good I'll be willing to buy some stuff. Ragequitters were pretty common in the EU beta, rarely seen in the US beta, trashtalkers are still there.
Both are still in beta so we'll see how this develops.
If you like LoL more than HoN, then there is something seriously wrong with your taste...
The quality is just incomparable... the former being a JOKE.
I don't know why people keep trying to make a point out of HoN being a DoTA copy. It was intended that way. It says it in their disclaimer. HoN was aimed to be a standalone and improved DoTA. That's why they contacted IceFrog and got permission to make the new version.
