Why do guys play female characters in games?

I play both on male and female characters, Because its a game,
and i grew out of the childish mind set that people have when they see a man playing a female character.
if you start playing a game with the mindset that every female or male avatar in a game = there respective genre in real life.
then youve set your self up for fail.
most people who wingeabout people playing female avatars prolly lack the social interaction with them in real life, and expect the game to fulfill it somehow lol, MMO's are a game, not a dating service.

my first character on WoW was a female tauren, surprising im not a female tauren in real life, i know. its hard to believe lol.

Guess you guys will all have to skip Venetica which is coming out soon in English.

Also the same must apply for books then.

Looking at girls for hrs, IRL or ingame, doesn't make you gay. Looking at guys for hrs......... doesn't matter IRL or ingame.

Otherwise, plz explain why Tomb Raider is so popular, or at least the protagonist of the series.

The cases in which there is no real choice, is a minority. What people are discussing is the big amount of cases in which there are no significant built-in game mechanic differences between playing a female and a male character.

My standpoint is clear: the majority are doing it for the same reason people watch porn and hentai.

Some ppl are smart and play a girl character in order to scam and get what they want. Other reason which is a very annoying reason is that the game is gender locked. If a class I wanna play is a girl I'm a play it with no shame. But at the end of the day I would rather be playing a male.

Because male Mesmer in GuildWars looks ugly as shit. They look extremely fat an their outfits are plain. Female Mesmer has pretty costumes.

Now with general gaming. The male version of the class looks ugly as hell (most of the time) or gender locked classes.

Those are not "smart". If they were "smart" they wouldn't fail so much in life. Once you have so low self-respect that you are willing to scam people, then you have really managed to fall into the bottom of society.

why would i stare at my characters ***? i usually look at what is ahead of the character. you know, where he's going and what he's fighting.

on topic,I only play females if the male characters are to bulky and there is no way to adjust body shape.

why stare at it for hours? i think that's the problem right there. how do you move around in the world and fight mobs staring at your characters *** all day? watch porn, then play the game.

i played l2 with a group of friends for maybe 7-8 hours almost day last summer. Not the most healthy thing to do, but it was a solid group of very chill awesome people who i'm still friends with today and talk to via facebook and such.

Didnt really destroy my social life because i could go out at night and such, but still, it was something to do and hanging out with a group of friends who all get along and have fun is awesome. I just prefer to stare at a girls avatar rather than a guys.

i wasn't judging the amount of time spent playing a game, rather the act of staring at your characters *** while trying to play the game. alt tab every hour or so and look at a picture of a real(not REAL, but a real human nonetheless) woman bent over naked to tide you over.
