That is a myth son.
If you guys want to gain more weight, eat a lot of small meals throughout the day, eating a meal maybe every 3-4 hours. Each meal should have a good balance of carbs, protein and all that. Protein is a definite must and to have a lot. And sleep is an extremely important factor, get enough sleep. Having a good diet also helps improve strength other than just mass.
