Whenever I tell people I recently met I have autism they all look at me either "no way" or "you have to be kidding me!".
Anyone has such experiences? >_<

When I had semi-long hair there were lots of people that thought I was a girl, especially when I dyed my hair purple, but you can't really compare it with this.
There are some other things, but yeah...
EDIT:
A friend of me has PDD NOS and I actually didn't know it for years. When I found out I didn't really care, but there are many friends that reacted otherwise.
When i tell people i am 16, no one beleives me; I've been told i can pass off as 22. I did get into a bar but it was a real redneck bar and my brother was in there.
(But i guess i am pretty much 17 now, 3 days.)
not makin this shit up...had a girl walk into a pole staring at me. when girls meet me for the first time they usually have a "damn!" expression....girls round here find me attractive...not bragging, find it rather annoying actually.
but thats bout all i can remember right now.
Hobo's (for some reason) think i'll be that one who gives them money, so I get asked all the time (never have any).
People usually don't believe that my eyelashes are real... It's annoying, 'cause I don't even think it's something WORTH having a reaction over..it's just eyelashes.
People always think that I have colored contacts cause my eyes are a really bright blue.
They usually don't believe me until I actually move the contact around in my eye...
Yea... people stereotype autists as those that are mentally retarted and stuff.
I actually know a couple of other autists, with one being my friend self (I was like "no way" myself tbh. :/) and they are no way near the level of "stereotyped" ******ism.
Some may be slower then the rest and some may excel the average human at that age, but they still can function normally in the normal world, hence the reaction I wrote in the OP.
When I told my girlfriend I had Bipolar Disorder, she wanted to kill me for not telling her before. =/
Well. Most people are sure I'm way younger than I am. Its gets kind of old after the first year or so. xD
When I first started college, people thought I was someone's daughter just visiting for a minute. ._.
its a gift in disguise. don't worry, when these people are all 40 and old looking you'll look like your still in your 20's and it'll be awesome. I have the same issue.
When people first meet me they think i'm loud and obnoxious.. because i am. then they realize i'm mean and hilarious.
People never believe me when I tell them my ethnicity, and I can usually fake some other ones. (I'm half tamil, half guyanese)
I get away with faking filipino, lolol.
As someone of widely mixed decent, I constantly have people scrutinizing my face and trying to figure out where I'm from. I actually think it's pretty funny. If they ever do manage to guess something right, the answer, "keep going," always throws them off.
When I tell people I'm Bipolar they think I'm crazy and it makes me sad so I yell at them.
I am crazy! And people don't understand.
Wait....I don't feel like I contributed.
A lot of people are scared or intimidated by me, even though I would never hurt anyone on purpose. It's gets really old, really quick...
people were looking at me on the streets two days in a row
it must of been the make up
People always are surprised when they speak to me; They are suprised at how polite I am. They are even more surprised when they ask me if I'm interested in basketball and I say no; Apparently because I'm 6"6' I should be.
Basically, people have strange reactions when they speak to me becase I don't fit the stereotypes they believe in. Not that I care either way.
why do you think that people have strange assumptions?
did anyone tell "dude i have strange assumption about you?"
or is it just your fantasy?
you are assuming that that they are assuming strange assumption about you lol
Actually I would assume most people are comfortable around me mates, and watch my eyes for emotional change.(As in if my eyes get lowere they think im getting angry) (Im not very expresive with my face).
They normally think that im a prep when they first see me since i wear polos and such. They get proved wrong hardcore.
I would release my wrath on you but.....nahh.
