damn, looking good can't wait to try GW2, played GW but not all the expansions.
I'll try this one out
Umm...am I the only one who doesn't like the fact that they added guns? Bows > guns. Not a huge deal, I just won't play as the charr. Besides that, looks amazing. (in game graphics or pre-rendered? I am wanting to lean towards in game, but thats just me being optimistic)
guns are good, means they are moving on with the storyline =)
I got shivers down my spine.
Looks sick.
Cannot wait.
How do guns = expanded storyline? Guns = weapons not a storyline tool.
I want my Dervy . Where is my Dervy !!!
i'll try this one out if it's not instanced bullshit like its predecessor
Is it me, or this seems like the final WoW killer? i know we didnt even see gameplay, but its pretty obvious of what the company can make. Just from the look, the variety, the story and races its pretty clear that this is gonna be a majour game that can do damage to WoW. by 2011 WoW will be 7 years old, i bet blizzard will not release their "myserious" game. Blizz will probably make another expansion just to protect WoW from GW2 haha... cant wait looks amazing.
I loved the first one, it was so much fun with friends, and all this added content such as actually races now, plus whatever new classes they are implementing, are going to be SICK! I am just wonering, is it still going to be b2p? Because I sure as hell am not getting it if it's p2p.. GW1 being b2p was one of its major selling points. Also lastly lol, is there any set release date or even what time of the year it is coming out next year? Or even if it is coming out next year!?!??!
Guns represent a change in technology but not a change in storyline. In order to guns to evolve the storyline in GW2, the game would have to be focused on advancing technology and its effects on the world...guess what, the game is about dragons.
I just read in the 2nd post it comes in 2011... wdf?? Diablo III will prolly be out by then, HELL, even prolly Starwars The Old Republic so wdf is NC****** doing??
Danatte, Guild Wars 2 has nothing to fear from Diablo III and SWTOR. Different styles of gameplay, different settings, overall completely different games.
They need a new armor designer.
Even in the sequel they can't move away from those ugly *** armors.
You mean the most realistic armor of most mmorpgs to date?
Guild Wars 2 had a heavier kid population than a lot of games(excluding WoW), and by then these kids would be looking for a little more mature of a game, and Diablo III is gonna do that.. Also, wether different styles of gameplay, Diablo III still is going to be a titan in the gaming industry and hurt basically any game, and also, you forgot to mention SW:OR, that game as well has had so much hype, Aion was like a little kid of hype compared to it, so I doubt GW2 will do too much better than Aion(though it will easily outshine it lol)
Edit: Echtolion, you are an idiot. It is called feathers you fail. Also, the armor is pretty realistic, compared to WoW having its armor glow colors..
really nice :)
I'm really pumped for G2 now!
Damn, this game looks awesome.
NOTE:
GW2 is made by the same guys that made World of Wacraft, Diablo, and StarCraft, they formed ArenaNet company after they left Blizzard, they have the knowlage and tools to make really amazing games.
So you can expect the game to be equal or better then World of Warcarft, its going to be def a competition from the looks of it. :)
Also if you look on the trailer, you can see they used same art style as WoW, but improved the texture quality and added more elements. :)
you obviously missed the part of the video about the race that is looking to expand on technology.
as the story progresses ---> things progress with it ---> age, weapons etc.
calm your pants bro.
i for one cant wait i've been waiting forever for this game to come out... beta keeps getting delayed its the worst!
No I watched the new trailer too. I was talking about rewatching the teaser trailer. I am not a troll either, just stating my opinion, I don't like technology in my medieval games. Magically powered technology like device though, are fine.
The Asuran's don't use technology, they use magic to create devices which we would think of as technology. The robots are little more than golems, magical constructs of inorganic material. The guns are what I have a problem with. They use gunpowder (or a similar substance) which I just don't like in medieval rpgs due to fact that like I said above, its impossible to do it justice without rendering every other weapon mostly obsolete and/or very situational.
I am aware that the game will have stats, I know they will balance out the guns and bows, but not in a way that will make alot of sense (guns have the ability to shoot faster, farther, and stronger in just about every situation). WoW had guns and it was little more than a different looking skin for ranged weapons. I also know that its only the Charr that will use the guns. Explosive siege weapons are fine with me, its more of the style that the guns are in that I don't like, the giant bayonet is the main thing...unless you can use it for melee attacks like a sword (huge advantage over all other ranged weapons unless of course the gun part sucks) take it off, if you can use, I would still prefer a smaller bayonet, I am not a fan of the really big, unrealistic weapons.
@Corleone, I am not talking about technological advances precisely, I guess I should have been more specific. There is just a certain point where the level of technology got to where I start losing interest in the time period (near the end of the medieval period/introduction of gunpowder.) If they must put guns in, I just wish they made them a whole lot more basic looking and used them for close range fighting (which is all hand held gunpowder weapons were good for when they were first introduced). I personally think that something more like this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_cannon, would more interesting, give ranged characters a powerful (but very slow firing...sloooooooooooow) close quarters weapon, and I am sure that NCSoft could make some amazing looking hand cannons. You could make them really powerful up close, fire very slowly, and accuracy dips after a certain distance. Would be fun to use as a R/W or W/R. Perfect gun to finish off running enemies, one massive damage shot, no chance for them to get out of range before they die. And about the Asurans, their "technology" is magic based and less scientific based which is why I have no problem with them. I don't consider golems or anything else that is powered by magic to be out of place no matter how advanced it is or in what time period its in because, well, magic doesn't exist in our world.
Charr appeal the most to me, the industrial culture appeals more to me than religious fanaticism, naturists or pompous midgets.
I am probably going to play as an Asuran dervish/elementalist. (That is...if they keep the current class system, otherwise, just elementalist. (or w/e they call the mage if they change it up)) When they first started letting info out about Guild Wars 2, they made some comments that hinted towards a complete rework of the entire class and skill system.
I get boners from listening to GW music.
This trailer wasn't that impressive, liked the other one better
The new trailer was mostly just a preview of the races. First one had more story to it. (And a killer art style for most of it)
