He spent his money on a MACHINE to play games, and to play games, you need a good rig if you want the full enjoyment out of the game. In a sense, its like movies vs p2p mmos. Would you pay 15$ a month to play a game all month, when ever you want, or just to see 1 movie that you can just rent a few months later for about 5$.
Its all about preferences bro.
Also, you mentioned "for the experiences to be had", isnt that the whole point of buying a videocard? that kinda defeats the purpose of your post, if he didnt care about graphics or eyecandy, he wouldn't have made this thread specifically for high end games.
AS I said, no computer is a "collectible" and i question your intelligence for saying this. A collectible is something thats collected and stored, never used, else its value will be decreased, why would someone collect a PC? You can just swap parts and stay on the line, and most upgrades are only needed probably every 2 or 3 years, so yeah there isnt a big line and he would have made his money back in the time hes used his PC.
it will never be worth peanuts, look at the old 7900 series videocards, for what ever reason, people still sell and use these, and they get good fps in games for the most part, theyre happy, even though the card is stupid old and outdated.
Your post is pointless, and it only makes you seem like a hater.
