so which one is better?
league of legends !!
and it's free XD
HoN !! coz its free!! well for SEA Version (SOON)
WHY WHY did you start the flame war again and as much as people will flame this is all about opinion and you should just try them both for yourself and see which one you like. I personally only prefer LoL because its free besides that to me the games are almost exactly the same but HoN is a little harder to get used to and its B2P
i don't know why my comp lag alot in lol and works fully in hon, but hon just went retail so lol is better
YES! THIS THREAD AGAIN!
HoN>LoL
loads of +1 ^^
And the BATTLE RAGES ON.
I like both but prefer LoL for it's Noobtastic style of gameplay (:p). I'd probably play HoN more if I was better at it.
But seriously, lets not start a flame war. o-o
played both HoN and LoL
They're both pretty good, but I'd have to give the edge to LoL.
Voted for LoL. For me it goes down to how good community is (both games have their gameplay + and - )...Hon was always filled with pseudo pros screaming at you, when your team loses like its a big deal. Not noob friendly and with retail its even worse now...In LoL ppl atleast try to help newbs, joke, speak and losing isnt a problem, just its smthing to learn from, bg is bg (well, I just didn't met rude players mby..)...So in short, HoN -> if you have friends to play with , Lol -> you can solo freely, ask help from ppl, but with friends its even more fun...So that's why I chose Lol over HoN.
Voted for LoL simply because I prefer it. HoN is better technical-wise, and both games aren't the best examples of balance.
Avalon Heroes. f2P and most content, great gameplay and in the ESL Major series.
HoN. It's not even a fair comparison to be honest.
LoL imo - paying £5 pound for a great game, or £30 pound for a great game
for some reason this seems familiar..
Not this crap again.
This is pointless, they both fill different niches in the market, they're not comparable.
just play DoTA, end of story
Starcraft 2 wins.
And the winner will be LoL, due to the fact that most of the kids on here have no credit cards and pretty much suck.:(
LoL isn't going to win because it's free. It's going to win because the majority of people on here share the same opinion. That LoL is far more friendly. I like both games, in terms of play, just the same. However, I've never been able to look past the community that HoN has. Now that it's gone retail it's much worse. It's been condensed down to the very people that made most of us leave in the first place.
There's a difference between acting competitive with someone and being a downright d-bag.
I played HoN before I even knew League of Legends existed and the only games I wouldn't get cussed at would be the ones when I played with Brazilians.
As far as the games go and not the communitys, I still enjoy League of Legends more. I can say that if HoN was free or followed the same plan as LoL I would not consider switching over.
I also feel like because LoL follows a pay for skins (and champs if you wish) plan that they are encouraged to produce more content. If we look at the number of champs made since release the numbers do not even compare. I checked up on HoN just to see how they're doing and I only saw two new champions. The champions LoL produces are also made to coincide with the communities interests, something HoN doesn't have to focus on. We got 3 ninja champions with a pirate, a plant king, and a vampire-esque champion on the way.
Similarly I like the way the champions play in LoL better. Summoner skills coupled with normal skills add to the pre-game tactics you'd want to set up before a premade. They also use mechanics OTHER than mana to handle heroes. Energy, Rage, (Metal for mordekaiser) have all been great additions so it truly feels like heroes play much differently than each other.
Both me and my brother switched from HoN(even after I learned to play and started raising my PSR) to LoL and we still think it's a great decision. Since then I've gotten about 5 of my college-mates to try it out and consistently do 5s or 3s with them.
I understand some people prefer HoN because the whole PSR thing gets their jollies off but it doesnt hold a candle to League of Legends in my opinion.
The amount of people who actually tried to play both games up to a decent level is very few. You're not one of them.
People will prefer LoL because it is more casual oriented, it's free, and the community at the lower levels is more friendly. The reason why people in HoN are such huge douches is because the majority of them like to play the game competitively, as stats, etc. are recorded. Because of this, if one person fails, or is a new player, etc. the entire team will fail, period, regardless of the actions of the other 4 players. This exists in every team game, even in LoL (try getting out of the average player bracket and you will find as much douchebaggery in LoL as you will in HoN).
No, the majority of HoN players are just tired of people trashing HoN when they haven't even grasped the basics of the game. You don't go making a fanbase wide assumption on a MMORPG based on 2-3 hours do you?
Hilarious, some of us play HoN because we believe it is a technically superior, more balanced, and more competitive game. LoL caters to casual players, and has no real competitive community around it (there has been no major money tournaments that I have seen). Meanwhile, HoN has got MYM HoN Pride which is giving out $10,000 USD, and another $40,000 tournament. Yeah, there are people that actually play this game for fun and because we make a little money on the side while doing it.
Hon is better than lol, but Lol is free so now it's better :)
LoL is the best :D
You're probably entirely right there honestly. The DoTA style games are unique in that way I guess. Where LoL does benefit some though, is their matchmaking and "newbie island" as the devs call it. It allows total newbs a better shot at learning without the upper echelons destroying them. Honestly though between the two, I say get addicted to one and just have fun and leave the players from the other alone.
I will say that the LoL community can be almost as bad as HoN's as well :D
thank you for your opinion
By technically superior you mean what exactly? The only "technical" advantage I see HoN having is the replay system, which I'll admit I'm quite jealous of and can't wait for RIOT to add their own.
Also I'll agree that LoL caters to casual players, if by that you mean it is easy to pick up. At the same time, it is hard to master-and it DOES cater to hardcore gamers as well. Season 1 for League of Legends is set to launch this Summer so currently the competitive community is left to the fansites. (There was a 3v3 tournament just recently).
In my opinion, tournaments and tournament prizes aren't going to make one game better than the other to most people. League of Legends has the payment structure, consistent updates, ease of learning, and laid-back community that draws a lot of players towards it. It is the "competitive" and "tournament-based" nature of HoN that turns away your average gamer. When PSR means more to players than having fun in a game it tends to turn a lot of players, myself included, away.
I myself was a HoN beta player who decided to switch over right before I pre-ordered because LoL just had more to offer at a cheaper price.
My Flame senses are tingling.
And my Flame sense pointing to Thread.
I have been playing LoL for a while with about 270 wins and around 260 losses and i have to say that the higher elo games are actually worse then before its either you are on a noob team that feeds or the other team feeds and that really just isn't any fun anymore the whole "fixing of matchmaking" didn't make it better imho it made it worse if i could i would probably rather be getting *****ed at all the time until i get it down in HoN if it were free instead of these boring games in LoL
Watch replays of tournaments (which HoN has since its a more competitive game) and you will realize that slither is a top ban or top pick, when he is picked pay attention to what skills get leveled and how ward slither is the only way to build him in competitive play, then you will realize how bad you are.
I know that Ward Slither is the only "viable" build since you get the "full" effect of Poison Spray at level 1, and it does pesky damage, even at level 4.
But coupled with the passive poison it's far easier to get kills in pubs then with wards
(unless they are stupid and chase you while your wards do the job, which has happened oh so many times with me lol),
since wards are better for neutralizing their farm and pushing(scouting too! zomg!).
But that does not change the fact that a buckler still halves their damage lol.
Nullstone Slither go, go, go. <3
nice, was just going to play this game today and guess what? "Servers are busy" 3rd day in a row for me. Not a good start for my LoL experience.
I've always been a gamer that is competitive, and I like LoL more.
Honestly, I dont even think you can compare the two really. HoN is more about denial, efficiency, and minion kills. LoL seems to be more about ganking, team fights, and taking down towers.
That being said, I like LoL better just for its style of gameplay. I don't want to farm minions. I want to do ganks with my teammates. It's always fun to be a part of that :)
The style of game play really affects the heroes as well. The heroes in LoL are all MUCH more versatile. LoL offers a plethora of hybrids that can perform well in different roles. I can't really explain it. HoN heroes just arn't as fun. Seriously.. have you played polywag priest? Alls I had to do was tongue grab someone, and watch my team jump on them... It felt stupid. Some heroes even have 2 Passive abilities (zzz) LoL you often see chained CC's from different heroes just to keep a person overextended long enough to kill them. This makes teamwork vital, which is yet another reason I prefer LoL over HoN :).
On top of everything, LoL is always releasing new content and has a great dev team that is 100% dedicated to giving the player what they want. Oh, and it's free.
The comparison makes it obvious, but there always going to be "elite" gamers, who are too good to play cartoony free games ;)
From the sound of it you haven't played more than 5 games of HoN at most. I dare say you've probably only had one nooby game of HoN where everyone just stayed in their lanes. If anything HoN has more teamplay and more ganking involved (at least initially) than LoL. In LoL, so far no one even calls misses. I heard all of you say well you need to get a higher ELO. Well, in HoN, even if you just start out you can put yourself in matchmaking and get paired into a team that will call misses and set up ganks.
HoN also has more hybrid characters in my opinion. Such as puppet master. He can be a DPS guy and a support. Also you said you tongued people so your teammate could kill them. Did you try setting down your ult? That's a high damage dealing skill combo right there. And by saying that you needed your teammates makes me think that HoN emphasizes on teamplay more than LoL wouldn't you say? In LoL I see a lot more soloing.
