"Law & Order" axed after 20 years

Well, this is a sad day for TV, but I wonder what it means for the spin-off series, will they get canned as well:

But the death sentence handed down by NBC on Friday caught many observers by surprise. Viewers weren't prepared to say farewell to this beloved TV warhorse. Not this way, with this sort of abruptness. And not with it on the brink of entering the history book as TV's longest-running drama.

What had been intended as the 20th-season finale, a solid but unexceptional episode, will air May 24 as the series conclusion. This would seem an injustice to the show's proud legacy. And an unceremonious end for its fans.

Maybe there weren't enough fans (this season, viewership has averaged 7.3 million viewers, the show's lowest ever and less than half the number at its height a decade ago). Maybe the show was too expensive to produce. Maybe NBC just thought it was too old.

Even so, "Law & Order" had been considered a TV fixture and a good shot for renewal next season. Then it would be poised to surpass "Gunsmoke," a CBS western that ran 20 seasons from 1955 to 1975.

That record-breaking feat has been an enduring dream of the series' creator, Dick Wolf, who not only furnished NBC with this so-called "mother ship" but expanded it into two successful "Law & Order" spinoffs. He also will shepherd the just-announced "LOLA" (short for "Law & Order: Los Angeles") premiering this fall.

Well, it turns out L&O is not the only show to get canned, they've just canned Heroes mid-season.

Heroes...it just didn't feel right this season...
Anyway, this had better just be some PR stunt by NBC. I mean, I love my **** crimes and seeing the criminal commit the crime, but I need my ounce of realism in my L&O. Especially after the "We're taking on the internet" episode which was nice.

I don't just want to see horrible gruesome sex crimes on minors and centenarians!

Yes, you can when you spell the show's name properly: CSI; which becomes: CSIs.

I'm from Miami and I can't stand CSI Miami. It's the camera work, every scene is made to look as if it was twilight just before the sun goes down and the lighting is always orange. Yes, that's a cool thing about Miami and it looks cool when the sun goes down here, but it's not eternally twilight here. Also, Law & Order has that camera work that makes it seem as if it's amateur video being shot of actual events, and the camera man does not use a stabilizer like others do on their cameras in other shows, making it all spastic and look as if the camera man is suffering from Parkinson's and/or is having a seizure. L&O makes me dizzy with the style of camera it uses, finally and thankfully it came to an end.

She still watches it and I wonder if she knows it is ending.

I am not American, and in crime dramas (Canadian & American), they arrest white people as well.
