50th Anniversary of To Kill A Mockingbird

When I was in 8th grade, we were supposed to read the book as an assignment, and complete a packet which was due over the course of a month. I received the book on a Thursday Morning, and I finished the book on Saturday morning. I couldn't stop reading. I approached my 8th grade teacher, Ms. Rainwater (we called her Ms. H20 for short) that Monday and told her I was finished. I couldn't stop reading the book, and honestly, it was a piece of literature that opened my eyes to the world. She looked at me with a surprised demeanor, and we spent the entire lunch period talking about the book.

A couple of weeks later, when she was collecting the books, she came towards my table and said "Bryan, why don't you keep that?". I kept it and read it thrice more that year.

So, OnRPG, share your experience of the book.

I've never read it. I usually just stuck to Dickens.

It was a good book but there are a lot of good books out there.

i hate the book, and i hate the movie more. both of them bored the snot out of me, and i've read dune.

Didn't read it, I guess I'll try to find it in the local library, otherwise I won't read it, I hate reading on the computer.

I used to hate reading on a computer until I read the Night Angel Trilogy and now I do not mind.

Of all the books I accidentally stole from school, this one was my favorite.

Old Man and the Sea was a very close second however.

my favorite stolen from school book is fahrenheit 451

Haven't read the book, which is surprising. Oh well... compared to the books I have read it can't possibly be more insightful or intriguing, but it sure as hell could be more entertaining.

My eyes hurt from reading on the computer for longer periods.

It was a great book, studied it a few years ago.

Great story & twists, seriously - instant classic.

Read it for the first time when I was around eleven and again sometime in high school, excellent book. Had a copy but donated it to good will couple years back. Also I love the movie, should of won the best picture award but had insane competition that year, non the less it was worthy being nominated.

I've read it and may get it again. Kinda glad I wasted the money on a Nook so I can easily get books when ever I want.

Not a fan. Had to read it during summer break in 8th grade. Did not enjoy it.

Off topic, but Farewell To Manzanar is the worst book ever.

I read the book freshman year as a class, we never finished it. I also didn't show up most of the days we were reading it.

I'm hoping to read it soon. In 10th grade we usually read it but our teacher switched it to another book called Ender's Game. It's a great book though as he said Ender's Game will be more enjoyable.

Hoping to read To Kill A Mockingbird soon.

My teacher made us read it this year, I didn't really enjoy the book alot it was more of a chore to read it after school. It has a really good meaning to it just it's something I'm not interested in, What I really enjoyed reading this year was Romeo and Juliet :).

well..i don't like reading too..it's boring for me..
but i need to learn that's why i read books..LOL..
