It's the type of game where the gameplay just makes me not want to play for long periods of time. Not quite sure how to explain it.
I prefer games like Team Fortress 2 and Quake Live where I can see a list of games, find one I like, jump in, jump out, and be done. I like the open-style of join-and-leave gameplay those games present. With Starcraft and most RTS games, it's a time commitment and a sluggish pace. I feel like the games always start off similar, and you either win because the other person was worse, or lose because they were better. By the time you find out what they're doing, it's probably too late to adapt strategically. You have your set building plans ready, you put them in action, but the way they're building up their army and expanding across the map is just superior to your method. By the time you realize it, it's hard to correct your mistakes. In other games, you change your class, your loadout, or your game-plan. In Starcraft, you usually commit to a game-plan early on. Not saying you can't change, it's just not as viable as other games.
I think the game will be big of course, because it's an improved version of Starcraft's gameplay, it's just not the game for me. I'm still waiting for a game to force me to stay up late playing endlessly like the early days of Team Fortress 2.
Just preordered my copy, Cant wait for a TD to be developed :D
