Building a new computer with $600 - $900
I currently have $600 saved up to replace my crappy 2002 prebuilt crappy computer. My brother is coming home to visit the family within this month so I can ask him to chip in few hundred dollars but no more than $300. The less the better so I can spend only a maximum of $900. This is going to be gaming PC, hopefully good enough to play some high requirement games.
Phenom II X6 1055t
Asus M4A87TD
4 GB Viper II RAM
Radeon HD 5770
320GB Hard Drive
700W PSU
I'm still looking for a case and I think I need to buy an optical drive. I think the price for all of these should be under $800-$900. This will be my first time building a computer so I don't know what to do. Furthermore, I don't know anything about computers. I am completely blank about computer hardware and don't know how to read the difference between them.
I was doing a little research and these are the parts I came up with. I'm still not confident about my ability. Are there any changes I should make?
My friend suggested I get a 10k RPM hard drive to store my programs and OS and a 500GB for music, files, and documents. I think that's overboard isn't it?
EDIT: Tax and shipping will push it to about $1000. Anyway I can cheapen this? Otherwise, I'm gonna have to push for this somehow.
