I find it odd that you criticise Bale for not being memorable. Especially when you consider that you heap praise on DiCaprio for whatever he does. He has all the charisma of dry wall. Every role of his has been the same, frowny faced, sweating-nervously expression. So, it's unfair you'd criticise Bale for not being memorable. What's DiCaprio, an actor you love, memorable for? What's he ever done that lives in cinematic history? He wasn't close to being the star of Gangs of New York, Titanic was essentially nothing more than a classy chick flick and in Shutter Island his acting was so put-on that it continued to take me out of the experience. Bale has American Psycho and The Machinist at least. People walk around quoting things from American Psycho and Batman movies. Who last quoted a DiCaprio role? If, of course, we're talking lasting memories.
