This would be correct prediction for any lower-level-budget mmo.
However, if EA Louise is to be believed, Bioware already wasted up to 300mil$ on TOR. Investors will want to get that money back...and fast.
Thats main problem tbh. TOR, having such a sum of money pushed into it, does not have the rights to linger for years in ~10k-100k subscriptions level. People who inserted money into it, will want their money back and fast...not only back, but even more.
Bioware does NOT have time to linger on for years with small consumer niche. Bioware does NOT have the time to convert TOR into f2p fast. Bioware does not have time for any of that.
They are not this indie company who released vaporware mmo in few years. They are not this big company that has possibilities of going f2p/ They are a company backed up by EA with 300 000 000$ debt on their shoulders. While it woul dnot cripple the company itself, it can certainly cripple TOR.
If Bioware does not make back the money that TOR cost, and fast, TOR will follow APB's fate.
And TOR, honestly just does NOT have anything that could pull a majority into its grasp in less than month. There's a reason why Electronic Arts are so desperate to pull down any beta-leak on the internet and is cannibalizing mythic to boost up TOR.
