Lol, Halo is good but its not badass, when it first came out everyone was like shiet! Badass graphixx,gunzz,vehicles combatzz... GTFO... I mean I have Halo sitting right next to me now, and I won't lie that I do play it.

As for GTA though, love how you could do whatever you want, like blowing the crap out at the police station, run away from teh cops. It's like shiet you wanna do in real life but you can't without going to jail, haha.

Halo was indeed a mediocre first person shooter. However, Grand Theft Auto was a mediocre open ended game, so either way, they both suck.

I liked GTA, its not like there are any modern open ended games that are actually better... but in terms of open ended quality, go for Elder Scrolls : Oblivion zomg! I'm gonna try this out, it sounds nice enough...
