I'm getting angry....anyone else heard of this?

Anyone else have, or had this problem on your computer?

Alrighty. I recently found this running in the background, when i opened Task Manager. I found a prossess called "$sys$DRMServer.exe".

Tried to end the prossess, but it seems that it re-boots itself or I don't know what word to use, it's getting on my nerves.

Found this on the net, about someone else with the exact same problem as me, entitled "Sony, Rootkits and Digital Rights Management Gone Too Far
".

I'm flippin furious. Seems that it is from Sony. I'm guessing that it's from CD's that is published by Sony BMG.

From what iv'e read on that guys website, it seems that what Sony did is unexcusable.

Wonder if anyone else is going through the same problems. Or what they did to get this garbage off thier computer.

If my memory serves me correctly they stopped this practice quite awhile back I think it was there half assed attempt to fight Piracy or something... I'm not to knowledged on this subject tho. :confused:

K. So far I think it goes like this.

You or me, or someone buys one of thier fav. bands CD's. You go home, plop the Cd in your computer to listen to your new tricked out tunes, not knowing that your newest CD has a "hidden application", seems that it is a "rootkit-type", installs itself on your computer without you knowing it at all. Without your concent whatsoever.

So, that about how much I know at this point.

finding out how to remove this off of my computer.

Well thats where i'm at a loss.

Yeah, i've just been there the other day. I tried it...still there in all it's glory LOL

They menstion to use "Sony XPC-Aurora Rootkit Removal Patch", oh, yes, i'm going to put my trust in the peoples, that put me in the rut in the first place.

Sony needs to be relyable for this. And not relying on sites putting a hiddious Registry edit out for the average person. That even "tech-savy" peeps even found difficult.

Sorry to say that i was at a loss, because something like this, is too much of a hassle.

back up everything
and
system restore or reformat the harddrive if you have the Windows Xp CD or wateva your using.

You could do this, but then again, since it is in the registry and installed...Probably wont go away.

I would go with Saint's suggestion. Remove/Edit(If it will let you set it to 0), also, you can/might be able to end the execute on start up.

Thnx man. Well, is the file harmful to your comp? Does it mess up any key registry files or give you any infections? If not, then I wouldn't care; my comp is full of junk anyway XP. And luckily, I'm a pirate X_X I never buy music CD's or computer games.
