there's no way to say definitely yes or no.
personally, I say "no".
I'm an agnostic atheist;
Meaning:
Agnostic: I don't know whether there is or is not a god.
Atheist: I believe there are no gods.
Yey!
Yes I do believe in God.
I believe there is something out there that is greater than all of us. Be it a cosmic force that keeps the balance of the universe, or yer traditional dude sitting on a cloud...theres something.
Remember, this is all my opinion, so please don't take this as instruction or fact.
"Praying" to this force isn't really going to make much of a difference IMO, but if it makes people feel better, more power to them. Sometimes its just nice to talk things out with anyone who will listen, right?
No, I believe that if you're a good person...good things will eventually come your way. Everyone has their fair share of good and bad shit, and its very easy to only remember the bad.
You woke up today, right? Your brain is functioning, your body isn't randomly giving out on you, theres air in your lungs, food in your stomach, and light for you to see with...but, its very easy to only notice the negatives. For example, my car had its power-steering fluid hose break today, and I'm gonna have to replace that. A minor annoyance, but I can't let it change the fact that I've had a pretty good day other than that.
Karma, I guess you could call it. Mother nature, whatever. Something.
IDK.
Yes. He's a bad mutha' fucker from around the way.
Do I know? Of course not.
Do I believe there is? Si.
Do I think he's some old white guy with a beard just calling shots? Not necessarily.
As a concept; yes, God is real.
As a metaphysical/spiritual entity, that's uncertain; but so far signs point to no.
I don't know I wasn't there when the universe was made so how could I know. I don't worry about what there or what's not there I'm just going to live my life the best that I can and go from there. I've found that sitting trying to figure out if there's a God or not is a waste of time and energy. So I have no feelings either way.
It really depends on what you think...
Either way. it shouldn't matter... just live and be good to yourself and others.
And as oister somewhat mentioned, just be greatful to be alive and breathing.. even though I am Catholic.. its not fair to try and "convert" others and go all crazy Christian on someone for not "believing"
Just be good :)
i guess you could call me atheist. I my self, do not believe that there is a man sitting on clouds telling everyone that you can or cannot go to hell based on your actions from when you were alive.
When i was younger my grandmother told me that if you do bad things you will go to hell.(Crazy mean old ***** btw.) And i think that her burning that though into my mind is what makes me believe there is not a "God" or a "Heaven" or even a "Hell" but more of a peace full place you go when you die. A place in your own memories you happiest moments in life.
As far as who created the earth and animals and all that religious mumbo jumbo.
its simple some rocks smashed together in space that has some or the right chemicals in it to make shit live and created what we have now
and how did the universe come to be? well
beats the hell outa me but who really gives a dam anyways its not like ur gonna undo it or something
Thing is.. we don't know what created what.. or whatever happened..
Why were we put here? is what we should be asking
Yep. I believe in God. Because of God, i have a purpose to live and die.
Not for me, no.
Never have.
Was never brought up with the idea. I didn't encounter the concept of a deity until I was like 10 or something.
The idea just never struck with me I guess.
Education does not permit me to believe in such stuff.
Personally, yes.
My god is whatever initiated life. I'm not sure if it's an extra-planar being, a type of force that still exists now or dissipated after the creation of the first forms of life, or something I cannot fathom currently without someone else giving a description that I agree with.
It is foolish to blindly decree that life has always existed since the creation of this plane. However, it is also foolish to believe assumptions as fact, to the point that one defends the specifics of one's religious icon with zeal.
With that said, I do not believe in any religions (save perhaps deism for being one of the only truly iconoclastic religions).
how the hell am i suposed to know :P
God Feels good man
I don't believe in God. I recognize the power that He has over people, but I personally think that there are a million things in life that are stronger motivators than God, like family, love, honor, friendship, and so on.
I'm not a man to pretend to know something I don't but so far in my 18 years of living I have came to the conclusion that there has to be something that started the universe. But making sure that people who are good are rewarded and those who are bad are punished is something man has decided to teach because of our want to be idolized by a greater power and the fact that no one can prove it makes it all the more beliveable somehow.
Think about it, the bible was written by a guy who was talking to a burning bush for all we know he was a stoner who wrote the best selling book of all time.
For the record, Jesus didn't write the Bible man.
And Moses wrote the bible right?
Uh, yea, forgot that there are those morons who believe that for the sake of finding the idea funny.
Also:
Those people who say that they think god exists but also say they can't say what he is supposed to be like, what he supposedly does, or why they came to the conclusion are ridiculous.
I can't say I believe in God, but I really don't mind if you do. Assuming of course you use his name to be a kind, generous human being, and not radical or preachy to me or those who think differently than you.
I don't think god is real they have no proof or seen god person like create the earth. Not sure if jesus has some magical powers that suddenly make the whole world. Earth was made in 10–20 million years ago probaly before jesus was born. Bible looks fake tellings lies
I am surprised this thread hasn't even started a flame.
all i gota say is HAH AHAHAHA HA. world getting more open minded? and accepting of others beliefs?
*PS* back on topic, also have to remember. have you ever played that game in school when you were a kid in like the 2nd grade, where you sit in a circle and whisper something in the person setting beside yous ear? and it goes around and comes back and you have to say it outloud? the bible is passed threw generations kinda the same way... so therefore would the story be presented today as it was minuets after it was first written? maybe... but also...maybe not...:eye:
Valid point, though if you consider the Bible to be the Holy Word, people would take replication very seriously and avoid errors. Plus, Telephone is an audio memorization game; transcribing stuff is much more detailed and careful.
Then again, there are many different translations of the Bible, and disagreements over which books should be in it. *shrug*
Bible doesn't make sense I don't think that jesus created us humans. Us people are like from the great ape family what read on the internet. All those stories at church thier telling is untrue and not real. Well maybe some of its true but not the part how they say Jesus made the moon and the sun.
also theres people out there that get a warm tingly feeling ****in shit up... dunno if im alloud to say fuccin sh!t up. but i think thoes are appropriate words for it... or they didnt come to the same conclusion as whomever wrote the bible and simply re worded it and did what they please with it and passed it on. I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, its all my ideas/speculations. just think if someone like hitler was back in them days, and im sure there was.... would he not have different beliefs and have the power to rewrite it? might not teach his next generation about his new beliefs but what about the next next? or so on in so forth.
I do believe that there are a lot of things in the world that we don't understand, though. I hesitate to call them "supernatural" because that seems to imply that they're unknowable.
As far as I'm concerned, as I said in my first post, the decision about whether or not to believe in a god is a choice. If you believe one way or the other, no amount of arguing is going to change yr opinion, because there's no definite yes or no answer on the subject. Personally, I have never felt any hint of anything being there when I tried to pray (I was brought up a Roman Catholic fyi, Italian/Irish background).
I get much more of a feeling of the sublime when I'm out walking in the woods tbh, even if I don't like bugs and other creepy-crawlies and I'd rather not go into bear country lol.
I don't know about your God, but I know that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is as real as you and me.
May you all be embraced in His Noodly Appendage!
:3
I'm not touching this topic with a ten foot pole, way to much could go wrong with peoples opinions on this topic.
No.
That is all i would like to add.
It seemed to me that oister was implying that the guy who saw the burning bush was Jesus. I don't think that either jesus or moses wrote the bible, I think it's much more likely that both of them are fictional, or (very) loosely based on real people.
Like what?
