Graphics Card Recommendation

mmk, well I believe its time for me to upgrade my card~ my current card is Radeon HD 4890 1GB. Main reason why I want to upgrade? well I am currently playing Tera and my frame rate drops in open areas on max settings....and being a graphics wh0re, I don't wanna lower the settings down.

I am gonna go away from ATI series for the time being and try out the Nvidia series~ when I first made my build, my friend was recommending a Nvidia card but I followed a forum member's advice and chose the ATI. Not that I regret that decision~ but I just wanna try something different.

I want an upgrade for the card to a GTX series. My budget is between $100 and $180 (highest I can go). I want the GTX series that will also meet my Power supply threshold as well.

any recommendations are appreciated. ;)

amd + nvidia is a no no.

So if you're planning to get a Nvidia gpu, you should also change your processor to a intel i5 or i7.

It messes a bit with the performance, not that much you'll notice it though. Reason I said it was a nono for overclocking issues etc... It's easier to overclock ati+amd and nvidia+intel. I'm not certain on the nvidia thing though, I do know that amd has a nice overclocking program called amd overdrive. You won't be able to use it when your card is a nvidia (for example).

I can OC my nvidia card past what most people can do and I use an AMD CPU.
What you are saying is mostly a myth.

And who cares if you cannot use that program, there are pelnty others out there.

I use EVGA Precision for OCing my GPU.

wut do you suggest then? overclock my CPU and GPU? mind helping out with that then? :(

MMOs are not well optimized most of the time so you will just have to deal with your frame rate issues.

You can always look at your task manager to see if your CPU is getting maxed from the games and also use a program to check you GPU usage to see if it's getting maxed.

Even with OCing you won't really receive much of a boost if any from that kind of game.
