Because unlike the big majority of MMORPGS, WoW focuses on end game content rather then endless grinding.
When you hit level 85 you actually have a ton of stuff to do, which is part of the reason it is more successful then any other MMORPG thus far.
it's because us WC fans who played the RTS for the story (before WoW) are forced to pay monthly to continue the story.... XD
I was so pissed off when I asked my friend if he knows Illidan's story, he said he just killed him like a little ***** and don't know or care about the story. I lost a friend that day.
Cataclysm also bought alot of storyline to WoW that you experience when leveling up(like the dream of helping thrall kill deathwing only to find you are powerless).
Point is, most games have very little content once people hit max level and end game content in WoW gives people something to strive for.
What sucked with Cataclysm though is in maybe 10 hours you finish 1-60 and you go back to older WoW. WoW just makes you think you accomplished something by hitting 85. In reality it's just masking the fact that it's a grinder as well.
Edit: I do admit leveling to 60 in cataclysm on an alt was amazing though.
Every game is a grind in one way or another, WoW just likes to mask it well. I really liked that dream in which my character was powerless to help thrall do anything against deathwing.
thrall couldn't do anything against it because Jaina isn't with him...
It is a FACT, WoW offers one of, if not the most richest endgame experience right now. And yes the 'journey' to that point isn't as potent as it was in vanilla/BC.
The only game that has anything near WoW's level of endgame play is Everquest, and oddly enough, possibly FFXI.
If the "richest" endgame experience means running the same heroics/raids all the time, hoping to get a piece of equipment, only to have it not drop or have 20 other people roll on it, forcing you to run the same heroic/raid hundreds of times before you finally get said item, only to do it again for the next tier of heroics/raids, then WoW players have a skewed sense of "rich"
Thanks for summarizing every endgame ever made. Clearly I was referencing loot or the monotony of it, and not the actual encounters/lore itself. You're an asset to this discussion.
encounters themselves or the lore does not detract from the monotony of it all.
There could be a raid where one person at random is chosen to fight deathwing 1 on 1 in a super epic WoW climax, and while it would be neat the very first time, it then stops being neat because you're still running the same raid over and over and over trying to get a piece of gear.
Clearly WoW players can't stand a different opinion.
Logical Fallacy time!
Today's topic: Slippery Slope Fallacies!
Let me show you what I mean
Ask for opinions.
People have differing opinions.
Differing opinions lead to argument
Argument require facts and details
facts and details make people more knowledgeable
Knowledge promotes understanding
Therefore: Differing opinions promote understanding
And if understanding promotes peace
Than differing opinion promote peace
you can literally arrive at any given conclusion hence slippery slope fallacy
I don't play WoW everyday and i haven't fallen behind, infact i have never ever raided purely for gear or progression. Raid bosses also have a degree of randomness to them that when you throw the random factor of humans actually can make a fight fun/interesting no matter how many times you do it.
It also helps to have a bunch of people you can fool around with during raids as it makes for some interesting trash pulls/boss fights.
Pretty much that, raids can be very fun if done with the right people...but players that simply do it for the gear just want to get the raid done asap.
If i played WoW for 2 years it was because of the incredible fun i had on vent while doing raids, even tho i was in a top raiding guild they really knew how to make people have fun even if we didn't beat a boss that night.
You did miss the point.
If you don't like MMOs with endgames like WoW, where raiding is monotonous, why would you comment in a thread about WoW? Seems foolish to me.
You're still just summarizing 95% of MMOs with your "You have to grind for gear" thing. You have to grind for gear until a certain point. This really doesn't change from game to game.
Don't bother trying to compare CoH to WoW by the way, in case you decide to come back with something like that.
I don't know about bwd 25 man and bot 25 man but BH 25 man you get more pieces of loot to drop off Argaloth. So I'd assume its the same for others. I play with a few friends I use to work with and their friends so we just run 10 mans. The incentive for 25 mans is probably more pieces off each boss. Which I think is cool because some people do want to just play with a small handful of people as opposed to a bunch of random players. Don't get me wrong I think the days of 40 man raids are still epic aq40 ftw! But the way WoW is now I personally enjoy 10 mans over 25 mans maybe its because I play with people everyone knows in real life? I dunno but there is incentive to do 25 mans and I think its better then having higher ilvl crap.
In response to the thread starter you just need to find an upcoming 10-man guild and just help build it as long as they ain't douche bags =). If you continue to play make sure you keep loot whores out they ruin guilds and just cause drama. You should have your tanks and healers gear out 1st and dps gear out together in a balanced order. 1 uber dps ain't gonna do shit if all other dps is under geared you need all your dps to have around the same gear. In order for stuff to go smoothly.
sure, its not hard to beat WoWs features..i know many game with more content than WoW. Even mabi has more content ^^Quote:
I'm pretty sure EQ has more content than WoW... even Anarchy onlne has more lol
@ thread poster: as long as people open new threads about this game, this game will never die.
mabi has quality. Just to inform you. It was a p2p game looong time ago and i still play this game like a p2p one (the CS is for people who wanna p2p this game) sure there are game with many features but they suck in the end but i am talking about good games with more content then WoW has ;)Quote:
Quality over Quantity.
ahahahahah so true, I mean just look at Rift =P
ontopic: I feel like above all other games WoW has brought the biggest multitude and diversity in their audience. Most great games like Mabi, EQ, Anarchy, etc don't really appeal to a vast majority of the general public simply due to their target audience being the average gamer. Forgive me if I'm incorrect and do feel free to correct me, but I feel that Blizzard has put forth more of an effort to reach an audience beyond its usual fanbase by making gaming more real and casual through clever marketing. Commercials and even the South Park episode has brought a lot of publicity to WoW in the eyes of the general public and as a result people who would not often consider an MMO as a primary form of gaming have taken arms and at least gave this game a try.
*the bold is so people realize its just an extrapolation based upon my experience
Druids needed the nerf, I don't know what you're even trying to say here. Feral damage was way too overpowered. The bleeds did too much damage and once they opened up on someone with pounce, it was almost a guaranteed 100 to 0. Last patch, the entangling roots glyph made it proc instantly so druids were able to stay on their target. They had a fear immunity 31 pointer that also improved their damage by a lot. And you say "poor druids"?
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Druids knew it was coming and every single one of them deserved it because even they said they were overpowered and they were going to ride the fotm wave until the nerf came. Resto druids right now are incredibly powerful. They just don't die, I'll tell you that much, even right now on live. Tree form just makes them more annoying even if it isn't a passive form anymore.
Priest? Discipline priest are the most powerful healers in the game right now. Pain supression, different shields to absorb damage, immunity to silences & interrupts, ridiculously good heals. Right now, the class that is having trouble with healing are paladins. They're the worst healers in pvp (except for dragonslaying aka pve). They're basically priest that wear plate, minus the pain supression, different shields, immunity to silences and interrupts. Because they all get dispelled or spell stolen, leaving them incredibly vulnerable to zergs.
Warriors have a right to complain. They have shit mobility and to compensate that, Blizzard just keeps giving them damage. So yeah, sure, they do a crapton of damage, so what? Warriors would rather have the mobility than damage because if they don't have the mobility, what good is the damage if you're just waddling to your target, praying for that cooldown to finish on your charge.
There are balanced classes. It's just hard to keep the balance because balancing one thing will mean a nerf for another class. You don't know crap.
Rogues have gotten their nerfs and now they're in a good place. The only issue is that they have too much utility to stay alive. Honestly, remove improved recuperate from tier 1 combat, because of that, the survivability of subtlety is too great. They also need to make the sub tree less bloated as it takes too many points to get cheat death, when those points go to something else. If they fixed the tree, making cheat death more accessible, removed imp recup from tier 1 combat, then they're just fine. But most rogues now aren't even taking cheat death. The damage buff was greatly needed for sub because it hit like a wet noodle. Low levels, all you need to do is AMBUSHHHHHHHHH but once you hit 85, you need to think before you act.
Combat is just ew for pvp and pve.
Mutilate damage is so REDONKULOUS but that damage is nothing because Assassination sucks hairy balls due to them not having any mobility or anything to stick on a target.
Waddle to the target (mainly mages & hunters) or go Sub.
1) Made by Blizzard.
2) So much to do.
3) Chances are, a lot of your friends are already playing.
