I wish they'd just make a good system so they didn't have to keep making new ones every 3 years.
I really hope it's more powerful and less reliant on motion controls. imo the wii was, by and large,a failed experiment, high sales or not
I should note that I don't like the motion controls on other consoles, either.
It failed? Nintendo intended on making a console that was to be played with a group of people and a lot of their games reflected that. Remember those old Wii commercials? The two creepy *** men driving around and playing with strangers? The Wii also showed that a console didn't have to be HD to survive in the market. I think they did really well for as long as they did. If the Wii had had better titles instead of just a bunch of ok ones then I would of enjoyed it way more. If the Wii received the same support in NA that it did in Japan it would of shot the PS3 and 360 out of the water and then made sashimi.
Motion controls are gimmicks. Everyone knows that! But the Wii did it as a main part of its system and that is way more respectful then MS and Sony copying their success to further their systems lifespans.
Handhelds are a different type of monster. With the DS they added a touchscreen and in sequential releases they added more to it while making it smaller or thinner.
Something perfect now (technology wise) wont be perfect tomorrow. And since the handheld has to be both small and easily portable it takes a lot of work to get the right formula. With the Wii 2 I guess they'd be doing a lot better and especially if they had some way of allowing DS games to be playable on the new system so people who didn't like the DS or handhelds in general can get that chance to enjoy those games.
And ugh it's not as bad as what Apple does. Apple is the devil. WE MADE THE IPAD THINNER! Add a 2 to the title! SALE IT! The sheep will buy. BUY BUY BUY.
But I want MS, Sony and Nintendo to win. When they all win we all win. DOWN WITH EXCLUSIVITY.
My Wii is so clogged with dust it doesn't work anymore.
Clearly I need to buy more PS2 ports with tacked on stick-waggling.
I wish the Wii was as good as the Gamecube! I absolutely adored that console. I still search old video game stores in the hope of acquiring a rare copy of Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes.
I never knew one of the most sold consoles ever "failed"
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Do you sit there feeling "mature" because you don't play Nintendo?
What is "kiddy" to you? Bright colours? Do you have any idea how many gamers would take Banjo-Kazooie over Halo, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto and any or all variations of those games?
Ironically, when I see my four year old nephew playing Mario, I don't think, "Oh, Nintendo only make kiddy games." I think, "Wow, my four year old nephew is playing MARIO."
He's playing a game series that many of us still play, and games from generations before us still play.
Where's Master Chief gonna be in 20 years, with all his graphical shine?
Damn!
Blaze got it served the HARD way!
Either way, some games for Nintendo are great.
Be it Pokemon, Mario or whatever.
I don't care if people find them to be immature, just play what you enjoy, and thats all.
You don't have to play the ''kiddy'' games in front of an audience of 1,000,000 people, so why should you care?
The way it sounds is that Nintendo will be moving away from motion control (thank god, I hope the fad is over) and using something similar to a traditional controller with a touch screen built in. This could be really interesting and bring some of the DS style gameplay experience's to the console market. Also, with more traditional style controls they could maybe bring back more of the mature styled games than what was available on the wii, because it is hard to bring motion control to a mature'ish game without crossing lines that would make it adult rated or simply not work (aka most FPS games on the wii).
I honestly don't see how shooters would work with Touchscreen controls.
Be it me, but the shooters on the DS that had touchscreen aiming were complete shit.
What's immature about them, though?
That's what I don't understand. I literally see nothing immature about playing Mario or whatever.
Dude, who asked you to join in if you didn't give a f*ck?
I am looking forward to the new emulator for the next Nintendo consoles.
The Dolphin was a great emulator to play all my Wii and Gamecube games in HD.
Although I had trouble getting Eternal Darkness to work which is my favorite Gamecube game.
Nintendo can have good Mature games on their system and Eternal Darkness is one of them.

Nintendo has confirmed that this is the closest (fan made) controller mock up they have seen.

It's all in the point of view of the players and everyone has their own definition for mature or immature.
A game doesn't need to be bloody to be mature but to be labeled that by ESRB if the game is violent and bloody and has strong themes it will be labeled Mature.
ESRB's mature rating: Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
In my rating of what is mature a game doesn't need to be bloody or sexual or include gore or strong language. A story can be mature while the graphics can be cartoony.
So you guys need to be specific to what you mean as mature. If you mean bloody and sexual and full of gore then that's fine but it doesn't mean the game is mature plot wise it just means the game has mature material in it.
A game about cooking is mature if you think cooking is a mature activity. A game about babysitting is mature if you consider babysitting a mature activity. A game about saving a princess can be mature if you consider defeating evil to save a love one as mature.
So you guys are just hating on Nintendo and I find that silly and ridiculous. Nintendo has always been the family console meant to be a everyone (E) rated console but that doesn't mean their software catalogue of games for the Wii is nothing but kiddy stuff. I actually like that Nintendo is more family orientated because not everyone will enjoy a game full of gore and sex and blood and I wouldn't want those kind of games to be only games out there. And just because you are a certain age does not mean you are mature.
My most played games on Wii? Just Dance 2, Wii Sports and PES 2011. Either a friend(s) of mine or my little brother come over here very often and we always play one of these games in the end. Those are goddamn hilarious and fun times.
Although I don't really feel like shooters are for Wii. It's just probably my own personal preference. I like to play platformers on Wii or games like Resident Evil Archives/Zero or SH:Shattered Memories. I play these when I am alone. Shooters just feel completely awkward and I can't get used to controls no matter how long I play.
By no means Nintendo is childish and immature. Nintendo just appeals to a much larger audience than 360 and PS3. Want blood and gore? Get Madworld. ****ing awesome game.
To continue. When they released that Wolverine Origins game on all consoles I instantly got mine on Wii. I didn't even know how the 360 or PS3 version looks like. I thought it would be the same with simply better graphics. I was wrong. On Wii the game was portrayed more like a superhero beat-em up type game, no blood, no gore as opposed to other 2 consoles where there were 10x more blood splattering around than a human body contains.
I enjoyed Wii version the most. While having awesome graphics, engine and etc. things is great, all the blood kind of kills the gameplay for me.
Really all the wii lacked was third party support, like the gamecube...
Course, devs are less interested in making games fun, and more interested in making it pretty, or stylish.
I still dislike the current state of console gaming(or gaming in general), flashy graphics are nice and all, but I'm far more likely to buy a game if it's fun and gonna get me my moneys worth. 7 hours of gameplay for $59 really just doesn't sit well with me.
Also, wtf is up with the lack of console based multiplayer?! Sims 3 for example required us to have separate systems in order to play together...
They must have thought my friend would get a PS3, but instead of catering to their greed we just blew the dust off of "Bustin Out" and had a blast.
Hopefully we'll see more titles on this new system.

Yep the Wii failed the same way the GC failed. Not a lot of support! But since they are gonna go the HD route now I think they will get better support from developers who just do HD games.
If Nintendo didn't do handhelds and all the DS games where on the Wii there would be no fight over which console was the best console this gen. JRPGs? The DS had more in its pinky than the PS3 had in its whole body.
It's the way Nintendo has always sold itself as a family and kid friendly system. Most of their titles don't go past the T rating this is where their bread and butter is. Parents can buy their kids a Nintendo system and not worry about M titles as much as they would with the PS or Xbox. Why do you think Nintendo stayed third in the states at least in the last gen of systems not enough variety for older gamers. I like Nintendo and own a DS lite but I know that Nintendo is more of a family/kiddie company and I'm fine with that why are you bothered by it. While they do have mature rated titles it's not very many and there a reason for that those types of games were never their focus.
Follow the steps:
1)Nintendo release motion control console
2)Sell 3x the amount of consoles MS and Sony put together
3)MS and Sony attempt to replicate the success of Nintendo but fail.
4)Fanboys still trying to convince you that Nintendo failed.
