great.. diablo now became big business instead of a fun game where you hunt loot yourself or with a group.
it probably will still be fun but i predict the replay vallue of this game just dropped like a sack of shit with this move.
stupid shit man.
With the amount of gear sales that went on with Diablo 2, no one should be surprised that Blizzard did this. At least now they can control who gets what money.
lol on the other side, im a genius if it comes to making money trough auction houses in games so maybe ill get rich in real life now :P
here's a vid if u dont like reading all the stuff up
so every player will have his own CS. Dont like this fact...sure its good that
you can earn money too but this shouldnt be like that. Its a game and not
a software to earn money...what the fuc k happened to Blizz
well, Blizzard literally added a potential job for the hardcore gamers and lazy people alike....-_-
if what i see is true, then a person can make hundreds of dollars in a day depending on his/her luck and market-play.
shame on you blizzard, shame on you.....smh.
"People see rock and roll and youth culture and when youth culture becomes monopolized by big business, what are the youth to do? I think we should destroy the bogus capitalist process that is destroying youth culture..."
Slightly out of context, but this reminded me of that. :)
EuroGamer also reports This
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-01-diablo-iii-has-real-money-auction-houseQuote:
Pardo further confirmed that the game will only be playable online. This, he said, was due to the deep integration of Battle.net online features and the desire for all player characters to be persistent and able to move seamlessly between solo and co-op play, as well as to prevent cheating and improve security
It's not really a bad idea, you could still buy items for Diablo 2, it was just that you had to do it illegally and potentially be scammed. I have no desire to pay money for in-game items, but I know that others do, and they would have done so with, or without, the real money feature. I do think that more people will be using it since it is legitimized, and I don't like the idea of being able to pay-to-win at all, but I think it is the lesser of two evils compared to the constant annoyance of spambots.
It's actually great, there's like ZERO economy left in D2 right now and it's been like that for years because everyone used forum gold (FG) on d2jsp anyways and I hated it because I spent more time sitting on their site looking for people to buy my crap so I could buy the crap that I needed than actually playing the game. Also a large majority of people who used that site purchased FG to buy their gears so D2 has been buy 2 win for a looooong time.
I just hope with D3 blizzard does a better job of keeping it bot free.
Only thing I don't feel comfortable with is that you can buy items with real money? I sure hope they won't be some overpowered things. [Randomized stats/enchantments is fine with me]
No. Not really.
With this, run-of-the-mill items will probably be 10 cent. Dirt cheap, that's the word. Since all the gold/item sellers will be flooding the market, anything short of top tier will be worthless. As thus, no one will be willing to actually sell top tier gear for in-game gold, effectively making gold useless all over again. Blizzard will take a (probably substantial) cut of the sales, fueling the existence of 3rd party sites regardless.
Blizzard, the stupid things you do in pursue of money...
So apparently there is another article out there saying how this isn't just a way to "get rich quick" as if you start making too much money off of it you're subject to taxes in real life, be it IRS or whatever. So it's not like this is something where you can just go, "Well I'll just farm a bit for uber items and sell them all and make $2k!" because then it will literally become your JOB to farm uber items and continue to sell them.
I don't have the link of the article with me, sadly. It shouldn't take too much searching to dig up, though. Probably some legal stuff about when you start earning X amount of money you're considered working class or a business or somesuch.
Without some form of "Bind on Equip" or "Bind on Pickup" system, items will steadily flood the marketplace in growing numbers, as they are recycled.
I wouldn't be surprised if they added a feature like this to at least slow down the decline in prices for items.
There won't be any chinese gold farmers because they will be restricted to their own aunction house based on their currency.
