WoW is gay, and I agree with the second poster Guild Wars 2
I must be the only person to think that Guild Wars 2 doesn't look all that amazing. That being said, I'm still going to purchase it and draw a conclusion that way instead of basing it off of videos.
I think Rift has the potential to be what WoW is and more. The dynamic world events are an interesting hook. So give it a few years and Rift will more than likely have Ex-WoW players flocking to it.
Blade&Soul also looks as if it could take WoW's throne. Fast-paced combat with controls similar to twitch-style FPS games. Looks very good.
World of Starcraft @ Blizzcon 2013.
Dunno, those new games (rift/aion) most of the time don't have the comfortable feeling wow has, somehow. Wow also has a particular art style which I would choose anytime over ''high end graphics''.
Action MMOs are fun, but they must have the content necessary to keep things interesting without it getting too repetitive and making content for an action game is a bit more difficult to do than for a normal mmo.
Some rift players are already coming back to wow, getting tired of farming rifts, from what I've heard, this 'new dynamic world events' gets old kinda fast. They are kind of like a random boss spawn, fun to see in a game, but it ain't that insane either. I didn't play the game long enough to input my own opinion on this subject though. I don't know much about the rest of the game, the only reason I can't leave wow/ragnarok for it is the art style and the comfy-ness of those 2 games.
Keep in mind though that you're only talking about graphics, gameplay, innovation, but it will require more than that to kill wow, it will take time. People often forget about the social aspect of the game, players that've been playing it for 2 years are not likely to abandon their char, all their ingame friends, their guild and the world of warcraft itself just cause a new game has eye candies and some gameplay.
I still say, only time will kill it.
Starwars is closer than anything to becoming the next big mmo.
GW2 will be popular but its too different to take that slot, yes people are straying away from the standard mmo model. But there are still a lot of people who enjoy it but want something thats not WoW.
For example, the majority of rifts community Lol.
I just think too many people are expecting GW2 to be something its not going to be is all.
my 2c
obviously the next mmo from blizzard
WoW is already stamped in the history of video gaming. It will be considered as a classic in the future. Sure, there may be a game like GW2 that will lessen the subscribers of WoW, but it's still gonna be there.
Wow, TSW is so underrated.
Even a game can take wow place, i think this game is developed by blizzard.:)
Meh, nothing will be as mainstream as WoW soon imo. I'm surprised no one mentioned SW:TOR though. I think there are enough Star Wars fans out there to make the game popular enough to be close.
About the only thing with current hype that has a chance to take on WoW is Guild Wars 2 or SW:ToR, but the chance they will dethrone the game, slim to none.
The only real competitor that may have a chance is Project Titan, but that is being developed by Blizzard with very little known about it at this point.
what you meant to say is i couldnt afford WoW so i asssume its gay.
Nothing can touch WoW, its gonna roll until Blizzard puts out its next MMO. Even if it loses 3 MIllion subs, thats still better than anyones doing. I personally hope Blizzard cancels it when THEY think its hit its stride rather than milk the **** outta it.
Dude, is your avatar and sig pic custom artwork?
Anyway, back on subject. Whoever said Rift has potential hasn't noticed how dead the game is already. Meridian is a ghost town, chat is silent, and I never see any major zone events succeed. It kinda feels like...well, WoW...
swtor. End of the story xD
Its NOT like swtor is so much better (they are actually smiliar gameplay wise)
BUT its the star wars in WoW form + the new features = win (community wise).
WoW is losing customers and many of them wanna play swtor +
swtor has allready 6 Mio pre-order. If Bioware/EA have a good start
with the game and shows the community that they are updating the
game + listen to the community THEN its definitley a win ;)
swtor is bad lol, it will fail XD, just look at the beta...
its not and the beta was good. Dunno whats your point :stare:Quote:
swtor is bad lol, it will fail , just look at the beta...
In the end..i dont care. Every hater will see that sooner or later.
Call me fanboy if you wanna i dont care either..the reson why
i'am like that has something to do with the WoW headstart long time
ago + the beta...many people said they dont like the comic style
or that there are still too many probs in beta and so on...in the
end..all the haters never ever said anything again after the game
was in their hands (release).
I followed the swtor hype and so on and its exactly the same situation for swtor and it has
allready millions of customers so...yeah. This will end up like
WoW did long time ago and you cant do anything ;)
Isn't the beta under CODA? As in, you can play , but not share info?
Or are you talking about some news in a far away forum ive never seen?
If you gunna claim its gunna fail, please support your claim.
Anyhow, on the topic.
I think that the only thing that can take WoW's place is a game you play that isn't WoW.
No, really think about it. Everyone tries to think a new game is going to take it's place. But, the only game that can take it's place is the game that you play that isn't WoW.
You play what you feel like playing, you shouldn't just go with the crowd. Just because WoW as 10 million subs (And dropping) doesn't mean you should play it.If you like Rift, play Rift. If you like SWToR , then play it.
Heck, people around me are mad cause i watch My Little Pony, but i watch it because it's intresting show. I like it, so i watch it. That's up to me not someone else.
wise words. I agree mostley BUT this thread is more about numbers.Quote:

It doesnt matter if the game is different from WoW or not. If the game
has the highest number of customers (worldwide) it will be the
number 1. WoW was the number one cause many people liked that
game + fans from blizz games and so on = huge community
swtor is the only game right now where you see that there are allready
over 6 mio pre order + the star wars community is huge too (included
the pre order action too) but some people will wait to see if the game
will fail or not (like people did exactly the same thing with WoW)
IF Bioaware/EA will keep up the good work + updating the game
the WoW circle will start again xD
WoW: Come at me bro!
use google. I am to lazy right nowQuote:
6 million pre order?? can you give source?
I'm really surprised that is very huge number for a game which no one in my gaming circle community interested.
SW:TOR most certainly did NOT get over 6 million pre-orders.
Where do you get this information? It's usually wrong. The only mention that EA gave was that SW:TOR had beaten their previous pre-order 'champion', which was about 500,000 copies of an unmentioned game.
I really wouldn't be surprised if the pre-order sales were BARELY over 1 million. Without a release date, there is absolutely ZERO reason to pre-order.
More people have pre-ordered Gears of War 3 than they have SW:TOR.
Most analysts only predict the same to sell upwards of 3 million copies.
Pre-order sales aren't a secret, especially not for America's pre-order sales. A google search can inform you of all reported sales. Now unless EA/Bioware is deciding to keep the other 5~ million copies a secret...the game isn't doing phenomenal in terms of pre-orders now.
hehe, np! Xeno is like a troll...if you dont give him the sourceQuote:
nice now i have to edit this LOL
(cause he is too lazy to use google or he doesnt know how to use google )
he will spam you with comments that you are not right :D
