Turn into a mindless zombie that only plays one game, for more then 10 hours a day.
I don't recognize the words "pro gamer". When I see them, I think "no life."
Is the guy who spends 15+ hours a day playing the same fighting game practicing the same combo over and over until it becomes muscle memory, then continues to practice 2-3+ hours a day on that exact same combo every day ever before actually going online to play considered "pro?" Personally, I see it as a huge waste of time that could have been spent doing something productive.
Instead, they spend all that time so they can "pwn sum noobs" in a fighter.
Apply the same concept to FPS, RTS, etc players. Aren't games meant to be fun? Where did the fun go when suddenly you end up practicing 100+ hours a week? Not to mention all that practice on that super combo or all that practice on getting those l33t 360 noscopes will help you in no way when it comes to real life.
People who get paid for these things are just lucky enough to have been noticed by other people who do the same thing and decided to put it on TV so other people around the world don't have to waste their lives.
So I guess TL;DR: IMO there is no such thing as a pro gamer. These "MLG Pro" people just make me sigh and shake my head.
going by this logic then there is no such thing as a professional sports player, they are just "no lifers" i mean after all they do everything you mentioned.
so are you telling me they are doing nothing that will in no way help them in real life? please explain what helping your self in real life is, i always thought it was about having a job (i.e professional gamer/sports player) paying bills and just living your life, i am just having a hard time understanding why people have to fit this mold in your head about how to live life, whats different between working a 9-5 job, or getting payed to play games at tournaments ect? they are just providing entertainment to people who work a generic 9 to 5, so does that mean a actor also has no life? i mean they work 10 hours a day and practice ect, but then again that's not real life right?
point being its a job, also l33t 360 noscopes? i dont think you understand or know what a pro gamer is..
my bad didn't know we were talking about the PI20 youtube gamers, thought it was a actual discussion about professional gaming, not going to lie, skipped over the video because it looked stupid without even hitting the play button.
To say they have no life is completely erroneous. Gaming is their job and being paid to do so is damn harder than a good 90% of the jobs on the market.
Professional Korean gamers live in training houses with 4-5 other people.
Their living room is transformed into a gaming area holding up to 12 rigs as to invite sparring partners and have people to switch with throughout the day.
They have rigorous 8 hour training sessions, scheduled breaks and rec time. As well as managers to help them be wherever they need to be on time.
As for not having a girlfriend? Boxer is dating former actress Kim Ga Yeon, the ***** ****ing dresses him before tournaments and meetings.
My friend's best-friend's son is tasteless, of StarCraft fame.
Yes, there is money in professional gaming.
Pretty much anyone who bashes professional gaming as basement living 14 year olds or losers that spend all day in a corner have no idea what they are talking, but it doesn't matter. I mean its not like there are growing esports scene, or people already making six figure incomes from gaming. IT ALL A LIE.
Most esports companies and teams realize that television is not the market that they should target since it controlled by people that can barely use a computer, thus they sticking to internet broadcasting to have better control.
Pro gamer = No life + Daddy's Money
Gaming has become a daily thing now, it seems pretty damn normal to me.
People do what they enjoy and some people enjoy gaming more than others.
No life? professional gamers get sponsored and go around competing in tournaments for money, that is their life.
It's silly to say that they have no life and its a waste.
Professional gamers playing games get broadcasted on the internet where a crap ton of people watch it.
Professional sports players/games get broadcasted on television where a crap ton of people watch it.
Different things same concept.
I have a funny feeling that a lot of peoples hate towards esports or progaming comes out of the concept "oh I can't do that so it is a stupid waste of time that only pathetic people do," and then they go off to worship a sports star or something else silly along that level.
Gotta love hypocrisy.
People need to realize that gaming is a big thing now >.>.
Also there a pro sponsored players, then there are those ****s who are on youtube and call themselves pro.
