Well, from the feedback I've been seeing, it seems that this game has a 50/50 chance at not being released this year.
In PvP both WvWvW and the usual instanced I found I couldnt track if I was gettint XP or not. I was just max level so their was no XP bar.
I honestly see no way for you to level effectively by yourself. Everything kicks your *** lol.
And yeah they may want you to go to the different starting areas of the different races and do stuff there. That may be why everything scales. That way its always challenging and engaging. The Charr zone is quite fun, lots of ghost style things to kill.
So.... weird.
My girlfriend logged out and couldn't log back again, yet I could still play.
I logged out too, to see if its the server or her, and see there, I can't login back either.
But apparently people already logged in can continue playing, lol.
An official word on this from ANET would be great too, I hate that lack of communication.
Hope they extend the beta cause of all these issues.
I actually got 2 levels in one WvWvW play session(though it was quite long, but really exciting back and forth so the time just flew by).
You don't get a whole lot XP from the smaller battleground things, but that's not much of an issue since the games are so short most of the time.
My big concern is how you can't actually play with your friends, since you can't join queues as a party, and the "join friend in pvp" option doesn't work.
Hopefully they can get that fixed before beta is over, since I'd like to try some stuff in a smaller scaled pvp setting with buddies.
My beta impression is......8/10. Once everything is ready for release, I can easily see a 9 or 10/10
Honestly, it's been a long time since I've enjoyed a MMO as much as I am enjoying GW2. However, I very much see it being a game that does not appeal to everyone much like how GW1 did not appeal to everyone.
I do feel it could use some balance tweaks, at least on some of the bosses. I've done all 3 starter zones and the only who has not 1 shotted me every time is the norn starting zone boss, but that's because I was a guardian and I noticed the tell for when he one shots you, and I used that 3rd mace skill to block the damage. I have seen no such tell on the other two bosses.
I also feel exp gain could use a bit of a tweak.
So, just decided to try out Guardian in PVP just so I could see what great sword it was like with all skills available. Now, I have been playing ranger this whole time, so I had no experience in PVE for melee, let alone PVP. So, glanced at the skills, half assedly picked some skills. Hit the PVP button
When I first entered, I was like

Then I was like

I think I shall be maining great sword Guardian on release, the combo is just ******ed good. I also adore the offensive elite, have not try the defensive.
So I tried thief in small PvP. Damn does he do a lot of damage. But im unsure of his potential in PvE and WvWvW. Resource system is interesting though.
also tried PvP a bit today.
Mesmer with 2 One-Handed Swords are so much fun, but had a few problems killing some professions.
The game is fun for sure, but the lag really kills it.
We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out when it goes live.
Oddly enough the only lag I get is when a event boss gets epicly zerg rushed
Also, I take back what I said about great sword. Sword + Shield is my favorite now, it lacks the AoE, but makes up for it by being extremely sticky and providing ridiculous survival in PVP.
Also, I'm starting to think Tome of Courage may need a nerf. I was able to out last 5 people throwing everything they had at me while my 2 team mates took them out.
I wish the mesmers had more options for masks...or at least better designs for the ones that are available...
Other than that, game looks great and has fluid controls; PvP is extremely fun, although it's usually just a lot of ganking on one side of the map, but still enjoyable :)
Mesmer mask are most likely in cosmetic shop :)
yeah the illusions dying after the enemy dies u casted it on sucks. i feel like i have no control over my illlusions either >_< even though the mesmer is hard i had the mose fun playing it and then comes theif lol. next beta weekend i will be playing guardian and ele or engineer.
Ele really fun but annoying since you have to level up 20 abilities every time you get a new weapon type. Overall though it was my main for the event and I may play it at launch. Next I am going to try the warrior/guardian/necro. Range classes are just OP in general right now since in PvE everything destroys melee.
I'm worried that I might have to use a weapon that I don't want to use for whatever reason there is (boring? repetitive?) but I have to because its either OP (which I doubt will be the case) or its essential for PvE or PvP (which may be more likely).
I love the Mesmer, the Playstyle is new and unique to me, I love playing with two One-handed Swords or with a Scepter and a Torch, but for some reason I don't like the Greatsword and Staff, so I hope I won't be too limited by avoiding these two weapons.
Maybe its too early to worry about stuff like that, but this my only concern for now.
Also had no problems with lag or fps lag or anything. But not gonna take part of the stress test. Just gonna be the same of beta start anyway. Just keep pressing the connect button. Plus there are plenty of people trying. For the rest of you guys, have fun!
yeah i was able to play on medium settings during beta with only lag or fps drop during huge like bosses/dynamic events. i am excited for the stress test. lets hope this test goes well and the next bwe is the last then... RELEASE!!
theyre ****ing bunch of ******s
sent in an email about password reset because i couldnt login after playing the first BWE
now they send me back with some ****** email saying you need to download this file (email) and it leads to the same shit in their faqs about accounts problems.
Worst shit im gonna file a complain it been 2 weeks lol.
For the next BWE, should I just play with my planned class for release (human ele) or continue to try out all the classes? Because at first I didn't want to "ruin" the experience for when the game actually gets released but now I'm thinking **** that I'm going to play what I want.
Hmm...seems like the reason people dont play mesmer isnt that they are the hardest but rather more underpowered...wow only 2k damage..that too when critting? (compared to thief's 20k damage)...thats pretty messed up.
Why is it that the assassin classes are always the most OP ones lol
i feel they gave the mesmer less DPS cause they have the illusions so help with damage and mitigate damage. if u use the sword u also have a counter move. i mean almost every mesmer attack puts a condition on the foe and or boon on players.
there is no "healer" role
As I thought, I dont like the game at all, it just doesnt feel good.
Doesnt have that mmorpg feeling that I love, combat is too easy, spam skills when they are not on cd, swap weapon, spam skills, swap weapon, etc.
I almost bought the game before I checked the beta but luckily it was giving me an error.
I was playing around with it yesterday, I was a little confused at first but I got it down.
You have your typical crafting, a list of things you can already craft which increases in number when you level up that craft.
I was playing my engi so i decided to pick huntsman, I made a basic pistol.
Soon after I i noticed there were dowel pins i could craft which had symbols on them,I was able to make 3 different ones. One with a heart, a sword, and a shield. Vitality, Power, Toughness. So i made a pistol frame and barrel like before but rather then using a already preset item from the list and using it, I went to the discover tab, threw the items in there along with the desired dowel pin.
3/4 slots were taken up but i was able to create a pistol with the stat I wanted, I guess you can put another item for a bonus but I didnt have any atm. It takes time to figure it out but its pretty cool.
Yeh, you can practicaly discover new items by combining things. :) Although I haven't done much research in crafting though.
The final event of the BWE was fun, but we didn't get to complete it because Rytlock was an idiot and couldn't make up his mind where to walk lol.
For those who couldn't attend, crystals kept spawning all over the Plains of Ashford, and we had to fight back a corruption. Eventually a lvl80 Branded Devourer spawned and I suppose Rytlock was supposed to walk there and kill it because the rest of us were doing 0 damage to it haha.

People don't like it, since it's not another holy trinity mmo pumped out in the masses like they're use to so they have to learn new stuff and tactics, nuff said
but honestly dont try to compare it to any game with the holy trinity
might as well compare this game to Planet side one it atleast has stuff close to it like 1 vs 1 vs 1 world pvp
Yeah. I think Elementalists could tank. Melee DPS. Heal. Buff. And range/aoe.
woo stress test tomorrow. only 4 hours though >_<
Yes, and Guild Wars ended up having a very niche playerbase. Which is exactly what GW2 will have. Guild Wars 1 never had an amazing population. I know my facts, thank you. You're saying raiding in WoW isn't new and it's boring, what does GW2 offer that is new exactly? People ended up staying with GW1 because of it had moderately enjoyable PvP. It's population is fractions of what it used to be. PvP can NOT carry a game for long.
k? And the game was advertised countless times as not having super endgame dungeons with epic lewts and lewt tiers for harder endgame dungeons with even more lewt for even more endgame dungeons. You seem to think it's suppose to have them for some reason.
And of course, throw out the "play the game before you talk!" defense. A phrase that means absolutely nothing.
And notice I quoted you saying "lack of PvE content" as means for opinions and facts, nothing to do with endgame stuff. Maybe you should read more before you go into a blind fury to "win" at an argument that doesn't exist?
Always nothing when I have the day off and then when I have to go to work, stress test. :S
