What program are you using and how long have you been using that program? I think the outer glow makes it look less plain. Yeah the text could use the most work.

Nice graphics, simple design. You may want to fill the middle with something other than the text, which can be put aside or on top.
I like the BG and text, but the unorigionality makes Domo-Kun cry.
