This is the same with any desktop recorder actually. You practically have to have blocking on your videos in order to get a decent speed out of a recorder, especially at high resolutions such as 1080p. I've posted my specs, and even I can't get 1080p (even on taksi, which hooks into the MMORPG) to record without horrible lag in the end-result video (no lag when playing though, unless I Set the quality too high.)
Also, never use lossless. If I recall, Fraps is a type of lossless, or close to it. But it's so closed-source, and unique, can't really get at it to find out. I don't really need to know though. I'm fine playing games at 720p full-screen on my 42 inch monitor, and only record at 480p.
You need these specs to eliminate big lagg:
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.3 GHz
Graphics Card: 2x Nvidia GTX 260 SLI
RAM: 6GB DDR3 in Tri Channel
Not really just stop trying to record 1080p get a normal sized resolution for video and your good...Normal video resolution as DVDRips have if then it lags you got problems if not just dont over push it...
Thanks for the replies, What resolution should i record at? My monitor is only 1280x1024. And how do i stop recording at 1080p? I didn't know i was :P
