The virus is not letting me access any programs, or internet browsers. My hard drive was a little bit small anyway and overdue for an upgrade.
Just reinstall windows? That should be easier then getting a new hard drive.
The smart thing to do is to unplug the drive and replug it in another pc air scan it that way.
Unless you have a special tool, it'll most likely infect that HDD, so it's rather pointless.
Now the real smart thing to do is get a bootable linux CD with an antivirus on it, like SLAX.
Its always worked for me, as long as I didn't run anything from the second drive that was infected.
i would suggest you to reinstall your window although you may loose many opf your documents but it will be more beneficial for you than to change the hard drive for it and will suggest you to use good antivirus from now to protect your system from virus
Snap.do is a piggyback gets past the virus protect and you can't reinstall when your hard drive fails. Just saying, if we're going to talk shop on virus everyone BEWARE OF SNAP.DOOOOOOO! That's all.
Get an USB key, install a variant of linux on it (like PartedMagic), wipe HDD 8 to 9 times if you're paranoid, once or twice will suffice otherwise. Shut down PC, unplug it completely (psu, monitor, usb devices) and leave it for 10 minutes. If paranoid remove RAM from the slots as well. Boot and install windows.
Should get rid of nearly anything that saves itself in the RAM or HDD.
200 to 400 USD for the HDD alone or...?
