If you were given a chance to recreate one game, what would it be?

If you were given a chance to recreate one game, what would it be and what changes will you make?

For me, I would say Ragnarok but there’s already an RO2.
So I’ll shift to Rose Online (one of the very first games that I played before)
First off, I’d change the controls from “click-to-move” to WASD + mouse (Just like in DN).
Then, I would add mounts that can fly.
I’ll also add cinematic to the game because the graphics is sooo cute I think making short movies will make it more interesting.
Plus, it would make the storyline a lot easier to understand.

All in all, that’s it.
I like the class diversity in Rose online where one class has a unique role in a party (
y’know, things that only a certain class can do) so I’ll leave it at that.

I'd take TERA and make it have combat more like Vindictus or Dragon Nest. I'd then rip out the current political system and implement one that includes things like bounties, integrated event planning and more.

Probably Cloudnine because the game has so much potential and the pvp was actually really fun.

Main issues was the upgrading system was insanely overpowered, arena type pvp was plagued by lag, freeze and error issues and so on.

Shame netgame and the developers behind the holic series don't know how to run games properly and turn them into p2w cash shop games and don't fix those things us players complained about for over 3 years.

So yeah if I had the chance I would turn that game around big time.

Probably Tabula Rasa because it had so much potential as a solid MMO FPS. The main problem was its much too early release to fine tune the bug problems and balancing issues with scaling later on, and the problems with melee weapons versus range.

Does it have to be MMO ?
If not, then I'd like to remake X-COM (yes I played XCOM, I still want to remake it), and Dungeon Keeper and Majesty.
If it has to be MMO, then I guess SWG and RO.

Same here since Rose Online is the first MMORPG I played.
Although there are already flying mounts in current Rose Server
that i'm playing in. I would also like to add more models of car
like jaguar or mini cooper type lol :)

Stat allocation wasn't the problem, everyone in D2 did pretty much the same stats (enough str to equip what you needed, dex for 75% block, rest in vit, ignore Energy). Dropping skill points was the problem, even if they weren't permanent, but took time / money to swap (a la original GW) but had different effects / power as you chose a tree making you focus on one out of three choices instead of best of every skill on your bar.

Even as is, the problem is the gold auction house (real money could stay imo, to stop third party). It is far more beneficial to look on the auction house compared to finding your own items since the drop rate is too low.

Anyways, I'd remake Spore. It looked so good at the start, then they dumbed it down.

Well not really recreate, but I'd want to make a game that takes the core unique points of Ragnarok Online over:
- individual drop and exp tables for every monster (instead of automatically calculated from type and level)
- random spawn locations
- completely open world without quests telling you where to go, but optional quests you can do for the story
- equipment / item system in which even low level items can be useful, instead of equip getting continously better, it will just enhance the variety in different builds

Graphics don't even matter, they can be 2D or 3D (though random spawns work better in a 2D environment). Also controls unlike in the original could be enhanced by adding keyboard controls. Maybe even gamepad support. And my final improvement is to make stronger mobs getting continously more rewarding without big jumps in usefulness, more a gradual getting better, but higher challenge always means better exp.

I would remake/revive Legend of Ares (long gone).

I would change it from point and click to WASD. I would add in tab targeting. I'd completely revamp the game engine and graphics of the game to make it to current industry expectations. I would rebalance classes and implement a much harsher antihack system. So many numerous things would need to be done, but overall the game still and would continue to have great PVP.

Very few games nowadays are truly fun to PVP in. There isn't large scale PVP that requires you to be tactical, decisive and skillful all at the same time. It was before the time of Pay to Win. It was before the time where graphics mattered, or easy controls mattered. Still, though.. Some games do need a revamp, and Legend of Ares was definitely one of those kinds of games.

i'd scrap atlantis, improve the grafics and bring back old emain <3 (though the graphics were top notch for back then. still has some of the most amazing spelleffects up to date ) everything else was perfect.

With the lastest patch you can craft 4+ pieces of gear that are better than any possible drop and they are account bound. Imo, D3 is fine and heading into the right direction. It needs more "content" rather than trying to be a D2 sequel...nowdays farming the same spot/s forever really goes nowhere for ANY game.
I believe some people that talks about D2 didn't really play it much...it wasn't more about farming your own gear than D3. On Diablo 2 it was about farming perfect skulls to trade for the items you wanted, and LoD was about farming runes to trade for items. Sure you could find an item suited for you...but the chance was as low as in D3.

I'd probably pick WoW and stop it from being what it has became now.

I'd say Ragnarok 1 but everyone knows that Project R1 is comming in the next few years. So I'm just holding my fingers crossed for it to success.
RO2 is a joke that doesn't even deserve the 'Ragnarok' word in the title. It's as pleasurable as Diablo3 for D2 hardcore fans.

I just think it would be interesting to see the outcome and which game would take the leading role in the MMORPG scene.

I would have to go with either Phantasy Star 2 or Suikoden I think. I'm not really sure "re-create" would be the best term for what I would do to them though, I would mostly just love to spruce them up with a fresh coat of paint and release them back into the world again.
