Wow influenced generic grind fest nothing to see here move along.
Sweet been wanting to play for so long lulz. I know a lot say the game is bad but i think it gonna be fun
I knew this was coming, knew WarpPortal was going to get RO2.
So I waited for this to show... but now I've got other games to play or WANT to play... not interested in RO2 anymore.
Of course WarpPortal gets it :x how many games do they need to ruin with their terrible servers...
that wont change anything ,Waste time on CBs,all know its a repetative outdated Game with no Hope
Why the hell do they want RO2 when they know it's a flop.
Just an FYI: WarpPortal (Global) is based in Buena Park, California {USA}. You can use that info to gauge if you might lag a bit in the server. ^^ I'm not sure if they'll host from the same area they're located or near. I'm pretty sure their servers are hosted in the US though.
If it still has that Yoko Kanno soundtrack I will have to check it out.
Now, I have to agree with songz. The game isn't worth the hassle of anticipating the launch.
It is in fact the disappointment of 2013.
I know what everyone is going to say, ITS NOT AS BAD AS YOU EVERYONE SAYS.
Well we never said it was bad, we said it didn't live up to expectations. Now even if you argue our expectations were just too high, well the expectations didn't come out of thin air. It came from it's predecessor. The game is average, and doesn't deserve to be marketed as anything more. There are just way too many mmos out there, that are much better then RO2 to say it's worth playing.
I was one of those guys before who said it's not that bad but thinking about it and yeah It's really not that great.
For a game thats meant to be the next Ragnarok it's a disappointment but It does have some hope if they fix a few things and add important parts from RO1 like WOE.
It has a long way to go for me to worth playing but from what I've seen and played I wasn't really impressed and seeing I'm a oldschool RO1 player it's a shame :(.
I've said it all along and I wish they just stuck with the same old 2.5d style and updated it with HD textures and so on. It could work soo well but no they have to make a game which has been done before many times and failed.
I won't give up completely on it tho.
I actually liked the other Ragnarok 2 it had a unique feel to it but they stoped developing it and made this most generic game ever :D
So its bad because its generic?
Honestly, i would rather play a generic mmo, than a new "look at all these features that dont fully work yet" mmo.
From the gameplay video games I've seen it looks like other Korean grinders I'vs seen I'll give it a shot but I don't think this game will go over well and will need work before it's truly worth playing.
GW2 isn't generic.... Where did that even come from.
Lotro and Everquest aren't popular (Anymore) so it's safe to assume it's mediocre in this age.
WoW is popular for being popular. A friend of mine argued with me about how great it was, with his only supportive evidence being it had a better cinematic trailer then GW2.
RO2 isn't bad yet again, just isn't the best on the market. Accept the fact that there are better games and MOVE ON.
the game world and gfx look beautiful - i dont see why it cant succeed ... unless its too generic and there are not enough players..?
but even if it just follows the crowd of grindy/animeish mmos, it IS Ragnarok Online, and should pull a loyal following?
Yeah it'll do fine.. Some people have too high of an expectation for RO games. I think I'll go Beastmaster this time rather than the tanky class. Games like RO2 and even RO1 are the kind of casual friendly games that you can just go onto whenever you're bored of another game. It's perfectly fine, and keeps it enjoyable. With an NA host like Warp Portal, it'll do fine and actually have a chance to succeed, unlike SEA version which was mediocre at best.
People are naturally sheep, people hear the word generic be thrown around and start applying it to everything under the sun. MMO by their very nature are iterative. They grow upon their successors. RO2 is just game along that line of iteration. As you say RO2 isnt a bad game, just simply a bit to niche for everyone to enjoy. But because people are sheep they will start flaming a game when they hear other people talk crap, exact thing happened to GW2.
I can almost guarantee that 60% of complaints on RO2 are from people who never even played the game.
To be fair, i dont think anyone said it was the best.
And speak how you feel. I dont see anything wrong with that, ever.
I dont blame anyone for thinking a game is terrible, or "generic". I honestly could never stand GW or WoW, but i could play games like Flyff for hours on end. I cant explain how, or why, its just how it is.
gw2 isn't generic? have you played the game? no? okay.
everquest 1 has a lot of players(why do you still think they are creating xpacs), so does everquest 2 (2 full servers at any time of the day)
wow is popular because it actually did everything RIGHT. it may have been generic as shit, but it was extremely polished at the same time.
Gw2 is generic... I'm not even going to argue this one, I don't even know what to say to this.
EQ and EQ2 have a decent population, I won't blow it out of proposition by saying it's popular. TERA - GW2 and hell maple story, I'd call popular.
WoW didn't do everything right, They did everything at the right time. In-comparison, at that time everything seemed like it was a good generation behind WoW.
WoW did every thing right? why was the combat the blandest around then.......
Because a game doesn't need to have great looking, flourishing combat with your character doing back flips and you needing to combo every possible ability in order for it to be polished and overall enjoyable.
This is exactly what game companies try to do now. Making their combat so "exciting" and "innovative" and the rest of the game is disgustingly lackluster. GW2 suffered from this exact thing. So did TERA and practically every other action-MMO in existence.
There's absolutely no debate when it comes to how polished and refined WoW's content is. Regardless if it's repetitive, the game opens up massively at endgame, which is how MMOs should be. Endgame content is what keeps players playing.
People need to stop being so concerned with how combat looks, and actually focus on how it plays, handles and the overall quality of the game. WoW is still on an entire different level to 99% of the MMOs out there.
Honestly it simply sounds like you never played WoW at launch. The game was incredibly unpolished and flawed, including the combat. The game been constantly polished for nearly a decade. It silly to hear someone claim that WoW is flawless yet is so blatantly obvious that they never played the launch.
I for one can't wait to try the Global version. I just hope they don't make the same mistakes as SEA. It needs a proper English voice over and also of course really good translations.
Are you talking to me?
I played Vanilla. Sure, it had flaws, glaring ones. It also came out what...9 years ago? When MMOs were in their infancy still. So that's really not relevant to games coming out in this day and age. Nor is comparing Vanilla to Current WoW even remotely relevant anymore. You don't make a game to compete with what a game was nearly a decade ago, and expect people to sit around for 2+ years until you have adequate content.
No one has said WoW is flawless, but ignoring the fact that it's the most polished MMO to date is just pure ignorance.
It's terribly obvious that most companies now focus on making their game look good, as opposed to making the game actually play good. Everquest looks like trash, even the Shadows of Luclin graphics update looked awful, but it was an extremely popular and well managed game, because there were actually things to do in the game to keep people busy for years and years.
You cannot release a game with abysmal launch content and expect it to do well in this day and age, simply on looks alone.
RO2 can be as grindy and generic as it wants. RO1 was pretty much that in the grand scheme of things. They eventually alleviated a chunk of the grind as the game aged, but the reason people remember RO and it's a big part of a lot of peoples MMO experience is because what the game offered. Which was a pretty good amount of content between MVPs and especially WoE. If RO2 wants to be successful, they just need MVPs, which we can clearly see in the trailer, and WoE, which I would expect to hit the game at some point, if it's not already in.
Because it's WarpPortal and it's also hosting iRO, RO2 will have a really good player base. WarpPortal servers don't suck but the customer service is pretty bad, which is something I can overlook. RO2 is pretty much RO1 with grinding, since everyone is calling RO2 a generic grinder.
I agree with Xeon. MVP & WoE will make the game incredibly popular. I remember iRO, I was about to quit for good because the game was just so damn boring. Days before I was quitting, WoE comes out. After that, I stayed on iRO for years. RO2 will do just fine within the American market once WoE hits.
Im not a huge fan of pvp, but i did love WoE. Or the ones that required strategy and class based tactics.
currently playing RO2 sea server and i really hate it
because they are always having maintenance just like today
they have a sudden maintenance which is different from
their weekly maintenance that will took place tomorrow
which will probably last for another 6 to 8 hrs >.<
Why couldnt they do a ragnarok like the real one.
I dont care if the 2d graphics stay the same. Just new areas, new skills/classes, new mobs etc.
Just a new game with the same old combat, graphics, no questing and whatnot. The core should stay the same.
I would instantly play it. I dont even give a **** about RO2
