It's generally improper etiquette to use anybody then dump them for someone better. Unless both parties are on the same page.
Your basically using narcissistic logic here. use, find better, dump.
but ultimately it's up to you. I personally would stick with the first guild unless it doesn't meet my needs, but Id at least leave before I bled em dry. Kinda a respect thing. If things changed after a while for the worse, I may reconsider my position due to the change in circumstances. But if it's the same as when I joined, no, I would not leave.
Rebuzzal summed it up quite nicely.
The reason I ask is because often times if I'm having a hard time progressing through a game due to playing solo people will tell me to join a guild. Problem is most of the type of PvP oriented guilds that I'm often interested in joining will usually only be recruiting in a certain level range(often times the level cap). So for a person like me who doesn't have a group to run dungeons with and often times public parties suck, it's very difficult to get to where I want to be. Sometimes maybe less difficult and more tedious like questing through content and skipping dungeons and aint nobody got time for that.
Just explain with a professional attitude that the job is not for you and that you are looking for a job that is more suitable. Give your employer a two week notice that way he can start looking for someone that can replace your position.
another for what Rebuzzal said. Don't join guilds/clans because I don't want to be particularly bound to a game, HOWEVER from alts of guildies I've listened to, it's really in poor taste to join a guild, exploit them, then leave without a trace (unless you're playing a competitive MMO like EVE). Now there are some guilds made exclusively for leveling/gearing/etc. who are probably used to guild members coming & going. You can join one of those, get good with them, then let them know when you're going to quit for a more serious guild. They'll probably be cool with that, and are more likely to let you rejoin if you hate the new guild for whatever reason.
Is it improper? Maybe. But if I see the guild doesn't want to go up and beyond I will eventually ditch them because they will halt my progress. So in the end I would say no.
But if you are in a guild that is "elite" but is willing to work for it, then you should stick around and take the lead if nobody wants to.
Only if you tell them why you are quitting the guild. Everyone is a guild hopper, and if you leave, they will probably blame the person who recruited you rather than you. Some people lie, and say that they are joining an RL friend's guild.
