If you get a good 1TB HDD, you might want to consider a 2/3TB one actually. In certain cases they don't cost that much more. It also might be interesting to throw normal programs on those that you won't use as much and where loading speeds don't matter. PDF reader, Teamspeak, utility apps like CPU-Z... you get my drift.
SSDs are nice and fast but require a delicate balance of IO-balancing and all. :/ Good thing they are getting more durable by the year. lol
