if we ignore the mystery class, then we have 8 classes: Guardian, Grenadier, Sorcerer, Ravager, Gunslinger, Wizard, Duelist and Bard with 4 starter eidolon: Serif, Merilee, Grimm and Alessa.
8 classes multiple by 4 eidolon which is 32 combination.
We have 32 different combinations.
For each beginner class, you can pick any of the 4 Eidolons
And there are 8 beginner classes
So the total number of combinations is 8*4 = 32

Well there are 8 different classes excluding the Mystery Class. There are also 4 Eidolons. Which ultimately leaves 32 different combos a player can choose when he/she creates their character(s).
32, well, i guess that's if i did the math correctly. I'm not very good with dealing with numbers. 8 classes x 4 beginner Eidolon = 32 combos(formula).
