Stealth is not that good later in the game, it's fine when leveling to avoid confrontation, but it's far from necessary.

Correct me here but I remeber reading they will have a wipe after obt before headstar right ? so now point in playing in OBT just wait for full release sigh.
Stealth is possibly the most important skill any person can take, if possible. The uses for such are endless and certainly play a major role in trade running and pvp.
Did they say when we were wiping or getting moved to testing server or whatever they decided on? Will that be after CB or after OB if anyone knows?
Didn't try the game, just saw it and it looked fun and intense. Now I'm wondering if this is going to run on my crap HD 4600 graphics before I get myself a real PC.
Oh and since I'm totally new is there a good site with guides and theory crafting for classes and such?
There' archeagedatabase and arche-base. Both have good skill calculator, with arcehagedatabase being more accurate in terms of what the abilities actually do. Arche-base, however, has a better build searching features to find the builds/guides others have put out. Arche-base also shows all possible combos for a build.
is this open world pvp too?
yes.
it's gonna run ok on low;

these are the skills i'd recommend from shadowplay. I would never pick up any of the other skills or passives to be honest.
Mages could drop some of the melee skills in here, they generally need to get 10+ in the magic trees to get any real damage so shadowplay as mages i'd just grab drop back and shadowstep.

honestly guys, the community for archeage is REALLY good. One of the best communities i've played with in a really long time.
@JK which server was that or you're talking about alpha? I was on Arenab or something in closed beta and a lot of them were a-hole's.
Edit: Anyone tried crusader? Opinions please
I'm kind of on the fence on what class I want to go with. I've played and enjoyed both Primeval and Daggerspell. But, I've seen a lot of convincing arguments for (as Shark pointed out) witchcraft + defense builds. So I too am thinking of a Shadowknight. I'm just wondering how well it'll work out in small and large group combat, where it may be hard to make use of the CCs.
The issues I found with Daggerspell were when going against certain tanky classes like Abolisher. My friend (who was a Darkrunner) and I (as Primeval) went against a level 42 Abolisher (when we were level 40) and basically got our ass handed to us. Of course, that could simply be because he was the better player and knew things we didn't that allowed him to get us down. In that fight, he was able to kill the Darkrunner and get away from me before I could kill him. Perhaps it'll be better at level 50?
In Daggerspell... I think I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. It was fun, occasionally I had issues when people focused me in team fights. But other than that, didn't really notice any issues. So maybe I should just stick with that.
Anyone know if we will be able to link our steam accounts to trion/archeage account for those who didn't buy on steam? Or if we'll be able to buy microtransaction points with steam wallet?
Until you check the official forums, which is filled with the biggest hate for F2P players I've ever encountered.
http://forums.archeagegame.com/showt...tled-F2P-plebs.
I honestly don't see any hate for F2P, not counting the obvious trolls. I see a lot of people who argue for lesser F2P restrictions (which Trion has ceded that they are working with XL to achieve this). And then there are the Founders who have put money into the game who fear that lesser F2P restrictions will equate to a more P2W cash shop. A majority of people bought into Founders with the stipulation of "No tricks, no traps" as Trion promised. Then we see that they agree to remove LP cost from opening quest gear, agree to adjust the F2P LP regeneration (though we've yet to see either... here's to hoping it's in Open Beta/release). And then the cash shop gets a slew of items that a lot of people consider "P2W" and a lot of Founders get up-at-arms, as they see a connection.
There's a massive difference between "hate" and concerned discussion. Just see through the three or four trolls that exist on both sides of the argument and you see a lot of serious and in-depth discussion.
What I don't get is why paying users still have to pay to get 100% of the content? Like if I pay for the game I wanna have the bigger backpack and all the custom items.
Because F2P isn't designed for people who just want to spend a monthly fee, even if it has a 'optional' sub. If You want 100% of the game content then go P2P. WoW only has mounts/pets in their store (and a level boost). FFXIV it just a monthly fee and Eve has plex.
This game since it went F2P, no matter how good it is, Is nothing but a cash grab.
I agree that patron status should get cash shop currency to spend in the cash shop. I don't ever see that happening, do you?

THE CASH SHOP IS CHEAP AF
There's the APEX system that's going to be in place to allow f2P users to earn Patron Status though so depending on how difficult it is to obtain those, it might not be too bad. And there is the option of buying that those off the auction once you get some money in game, since a good number of people will probably put them up there.
In theory it sounds good but we'll see. I'm looking forward to it though.
I'm way more bummed that despite the game having a sub, we still have to pay extra cash to be at 100% efficiency. What happened to good old days of getting 100% out of the game with a sub? Now if I want to hardcore it, I have to spent extra money for labour pots and what else from the cash shop...
I'm not saying it's pay2win, but I am definitely implying that Trion/XL is greedy as hell.
I'm going to wait for the actual release date. Going to be making a Blighter or a Darkrunner. If I was to heal I would be a Templar but healing seems so unappealing in this game since it's all open world pvp and being a healer makes it seem like you can't do anything on your own.
The game is not balanced for 1v1 PvP though.
honestly? no, it's not cheap as ****.
it's decently priced, but they could go cheaper on expansion scrolls and alembics.
Right now it costs about $20 in alembics to skin all of your gear.
The rest is fine, though.
It's called nickling and diming. They as for a nickle here, a dime there, and next thing you know you've somehow spent $100 in a single month without realizing it. It's a tactic to trick those with little-to-no control/money awareness into overspending. I mean, if you can spend just $2 to give yourself a decent advantage (or making things "more convenient"), why not do it? Heck you might find yourself doing it the next day, too. And your friend who doesn't have the best job in the world could use some love as well. Damn, they just released a new glider skin for just $8, that thing would look badass if you had it.
Not saying the prices for the items are to high or to low, just don't mistake a business model for being fair as it's aimed to make one side come out on top, and it isn't the consumer.
I miss the days of P2P :/
Yeah, I know it's not. But from what I see, if you want to do something on your own, as a healer, like a Templar, you wouldn't have any offensive abilities to damage something, and all you have is a person beating up on you until they either give up, kill you, or have a friend come and help you. Just being a DPS sounds way more appealing. Though this is completely subjective because there are people out there who are OK with that lifestyle of a healer in a game that focuses on small to large scale PVP.
All hail P2P! :Psy:
Also... I'm gonna be a pirate.
Ah.. well, that kind of makes sense. I would rather prefer it to be more like WoW (yeah, I know). Where the class has at least a couple offensive abilities. While they don't do much damage at all, at least it's something.
Also~ what are your thoughts on pirates? Sounds like a lot of fun to be one. When you're a pirate, does it mean that you are no longer allowed into the major cities? Like, the moment you get near there, the guards just maul you? It just sounds like a blast.
yeah, pirates are literally pirates - you join a separate faction that are KOS to everyone.
but, later (probably when we get 1.7) you're able to create custom factions where pirates, west and east can all play together.
it's really difficult to just become a pirate right off the bat, though. you should play the game normally until you have house/boat atleast, otherwise you're kinda screwed.
You might want to look into Paladin... It's not a dedicated healer but it's powerful solo with self heals. You'd use a club+board.

I was convinced by my guild to buy into alpha and they were pirates. I hit 50 and rushed pirate by ************* infamy and played as a pirate for a good two months.
You're allowed into major cities, but you're KOS to all guards except pirate guards, even neutral guards (who will not attack either faction unless players start fighting each other, in which case both of them are killed). Pirates can commit crimes and never gain any crime points/infamy and are hostile to both east and west factions. Pirates cannot go to jail unless they step foot on Nuia or Haranya, the west and east continents. If they're on those continents and die to another PLAYER (npcs/guards will just make you respawn normally), you will go to jail for 40 minutes if you plead guilty or up to 48 minutes if you sit trial and are found guilty. Keep in mind that many people who are still east/west faction go to jail for like 300 minutes for the things that pirates could get away with for 40... That flat 40 minute sentence doesn't change regardless of your crimes. Again, you only go to jail on the east/west continents and you really don't need to be there that often. Some argue that there's no point in even going to those continents. However, I would always go ganking there with a pirate friend because the imminent jail time was a thrill that I wanted. As a pirate, you have several disadvantages. Your faction is probably so small that you can't go and do faction events.
